Who do you think should start. Assuming they are both healthy. Assume one gets 26 minutes and the other gets 22 minutes.
My vote is Oden. But I also wouldn't limit him to 26 minutes - if he can stay healthy and out of foul trouble, give him as much as he can handle. Camby should play a bunch of backup PF minutes as well, IMO.
I was thinking about that too, the back up PF. Maybe we could use a little less LMA and Pendy/Dante...
If Oden produces at or near how he produced last year, in roughly the same amount of time, it is an easy decision: Oden. Oden was producing last year at a level much higher than Camby can or will this year.
The only reason not to start Greg is his health, if his knee is 100% and his conditioning is good enough for the minutes he's the obvious starter, but putting him out there for big minutes early if he isn't anywhere near game shape could spell disaster so Camby could start as a placeholder until he's in game shape.
Let Oden polish off his rust coming off the bench. Besides, if he only plays around 20 MPG, maybe he will stay healthy for a little while.
It's gotta be Oden. Reason: He and Brandon need as much time as possible on the floor together to gel. Oden and Roy are the future or there is no future.
If Oden can play, he should start. If he is incapable of playing more than 20 minutes a game without getting hurt, then we should learn that as soon as possible so we can move on. I don't think that is the case (and Camby is an example of how a player can overcome injuries to have a long career) but I'd rather know that now than give him a big extension after treating him with kids gloves and then have him break as soon as we expect him to become a starting center. If Oden is healthy, Oden should start. Oden is far more valuable to this team than Camby is if he is healthy.
