I remember when little Mac Hobson played for Jeff.

I remember Tony Hobson, not Mac.

That was fun to watch. Plus you had a one time Blazer doing the color for the broadcast team. (Yet it was his first time ever to Idaho)

babbitt either has no lateral quickness or he plays with little effort. his change of direction is shockingly slow, but he does show his athleticism when he goes up for rebounds, so he's not lacking that.

I think you are right....he plays effortlessly. Always seems to be under control. Not as good as Roy, but similar traits.

I remember when Mac Hopson went toe to toe with Oak Hill in the LSI a few years ago...it was impressive!

"Good to watch?" Hmmm .... I'll say one thing it was definitely instructive.

I don't think I saw them run a single play in that whole sequence, which helps me understand why they weren't more dominant in the WAC with two future NBA draftees (in a very deep draft no less) on their roster. I also see why the scouts were so pleasantly surprised with Armon's ability to play off of screens and run a pick and roll -- they'd never seen him in one before.

I meant its a good start for the two. Its obvious that both players need some better conditioning and weight loss. Yes, I agree they both look sluggish but I like how Babbitt gets aggressive on the boards. Johnson has some sloppy ball passing but I do think this can all get more polished up the rest of the summer.

Two NBA quality players played well against the basketball powerhouse of Idaho.

    Very encouraging.

Perhaps we should also watch their highlights in last years NCAA tournament.

Oh wait, we can't because their crap team didn't even make it.

Nothing these two guys did in college means very much since their quality of opponent was typically pretty damn poor.

    Meh.

They both got in the paint and to the rim becuase they are left-handed playing against weak defenders that weren't smart enough to overplay their left hands. Everytime Babbit put the ball on the floor, he went left, but his defender was still playing him straight up, like there was a chance he might actually go right.

Same thing on Armon's game winning and-one. He beat his defender going left. If the defender had overplayed his left hand, there's no way he gets to the rim.

Things won't be this easy in the NBA. Not even close. Both players will need to learn to use their right hands more and be able to score going right. Otherwise, teams will just camp on their left hands and take away their offense. Babbitt isn't quick enough to beat anyone who overplays his left hand. He's going to have to force defenders to respect him going right, and I haven't seen that from him, yet.

It is August 3rd. What else is there to watch? Personally I enjoy watching an exciting end of a college basketball game. Nobody said it meant anything other than it was good. Thanks for posting it Nate Dog.

What's there to watch? I have every Blazer game from last season and am currently in the 2nd half of our huge win in San Antonio right before XMAS!

Yeah 88-89'. Can't recall if he was called up from the CBA or just plain made the team that year. But I think he signed after the season started. Pretty good offensive player as I remember.

Coincidentally, Boise is where they'll be playing a lot this season...

(I do like Babbitt's attempted dunk at about 1:20)
