So in my artist menu on my ipod I have certain artists that have multiples of 2 or 3. Anyone know why this happens? Do I have to have everything other than the song exactly the same to get them grouped the same?

I would wager that is the case.

Yeah, that's right. It's easy enough to fix, you just have to change the artists' names on itunes. Kind of a pain but easier to find songs once it's done.

Yep. My iPod shows, for example:

    Bach, Johann Sebastian
    Johann Sebastian Bach
    JS Bach

I'll have the exact same name for an artist and it still gets separated.

I've had that happen. I don't know why it does that sometimes, but the solution is, in iTunes, to re-name the Artist field on all the songs by that artist something else (like, say, "Temporary") and then mass-rename them all (select them all, Get Info) back to the correct artist in one shot. That puts them all together as one artist.

Strange...I've done it with a lot of artists and it's never failed. I wish I had more suggestions.
