http://twitter.com/ShamSports/status/20311683304 I decline membership at this time. Despite the fact that Bulls fans have developed a fetish for the three in the summer of Korver and Redick, I think folks need to understand that the underlying need to space the floor requires players who can shoot from distance. A three point shooter is ideal, but that doesn’t mean a player like Deng provides no value whatsoever there. Deng can shoot from further out on the court. And not that badly, although of course I’d like him to turn some of those long-2s into threes. Point is, it’s not like guys leave Deng wide open on a long 2 to clog the lane. So I think the view that we’ll have absolutely no shooting and no spacing with Deng out there is pretty wrong.
Hmmmmm. I think it really depends on what the half court offense looks like I could see more a requirement for Lu to playing the weakside corner more and being more a jump shooter than moving off screens and cutting to get open inside - where the inside is more for Booze to work the post , Derrick to drive and Jo to crash . If you start Ronnie for defense he will take more the role of cutting off the ball and filling the gaps to get open because of the limitations of his shot. Therefore by default Lu has to become a creditable weakside corner jump shooter from the 3 , and if he's gettiing closed out hard , he has to fake the closer and drive in for the better shot Alternatively if we don't go for our strongest defensive unit in the starting line up , KK will be our weakside shooting threat and Lu will be playing more to his strongest point in the offense which is moving off the ball and getting open off the cut
If 4 of the 5 guys on offense are scoring mostly around the basket, or even 3 of the 5, then you only need 4 (or 3) guys clogging the lane on defense and stick the two outside shooters.
I hope not. I feel like we've already tried that experiment to great failure. Deng is limited in that he is a system player, which is not a bad thing. You need to run little plays off the ball for him to be effective, and he can be very effective when put in the right spots. This is something VDN was either not interested in or never really considered, which is my major gripe with his offenses. Two seasons ago was especially bleak. Thibideau talked about running Deng off the ball in his introductory press conference and I hope he will actually implement an offense that does that. As to who should start between Korver and Brewer: These answers seem to present themselves without a Sham campaign. I think we'll have a pretty good idea whether Korver's skills are best off the bench within the first quarter of the season.
Hey I'm with you brother Which is why I would start Korver as the weakside long ball threat and move Lu around the floor which is where his strength is , and where , I think he's better and more effective at it than Brewer I just can't see both guys ( Deng and Brewer ) cutting and moving around the floor together If you go with your best defensive line up to start the game and Deng and Brewer are on the floor ..something's gotta give And I reckon what that is is Lu sliding into that role ( defacto )
Check out Wilson Chandler's stats. 15.9 PPG, 5.4 RPG, .479 FG%, and he's in danger of losing his starting SG spot to Kelenna Azubuike. Why? Azubuike is a career .409 3pt% shooter.
It also might be due to the fact that Azubuiike is actually a SG whereas Chandler is a SF playing out of position. And I agree with OP, but I think a lot of nights Brewer is going to have to knock down an open jumper or two because teams are going to play off of him and cheat towards Rose.
