<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Pre-draft workouts: Day 2 NotebookBy Peter F. StringerCeltics.comMay 23, 2006Rajon Rondo highlighted Day 2 of pre-draft workouts in Waltham, as he matched up with Iowa State's Will Blalock (back for a second day of workouts), Boston College's Louis Hinnant and Bryant (Division II) guard John Williams. Rondo is known for his lightning quick moves, and he's been projected as a lottery pick in several mock drafts.</div>Danny's been watching him for a while. I would rather get a guy like Marcus Williams over Rondo, Rondo looks exactly like Orien Greene from the games I have seen him. I hope Danny goes elsewhere with the #7 pick.
Look who he went up against though. Sure Blalock is a Boston native and is a pretty talented young guy, but who the hell are the other guys? I think Rondo is a very quick player that can get to the basket, not a bad defender, not a reliable outside shooter, nice court vision for a college sophomore, but a terrible FT shooter as well. Rondo is very raw and skinny and will take him a while to get his comfort zone in the NBA in my opinion. He is a project guard. We don't need another project. We already have Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, and Kendrick Perkins. No more projects. There are 2 PG's in this draft I would would consider at 7th spick though and those guys are Marcus Williams and Randy Foye. I don't know if Rondo would be a wise choice at 7. If Ainge really wants Rondo, trade down and get something else in the deal like cash or a trade exception.

But Rondo has upside. Orien, IMO, will not really improve too much from what he is now. He will be a 10th-11th man in his prime.
I liked Rondo. He was fun to watch at Kentucky. He's a guy who would have benefitted from possibly another year in college. Like someone said, if we really want this guy, we should trade down. I trust Danny in this, he's been an excellent drafter, and why doubt him now. He's got a pretty good eye for talent. Especially with already a very young core, I don't feel this team really needs to find the next big thing at the top of the draft, they just need a few veteran pieces.

But I'm not sure Rondo is the answer. He's a project PG, we don't need that. We need a playmaker if we are going to draft a PG, like Marcus Williams. I also have faith Randy Foye can be a decent playmaker in the NBA, as well as score. But Rondo is very raw and a project.
If you all guys know me from the Old BBW remember my first username Rondo 4 (Im a Kentucky Wildcats Fan).anyways..I think Rajon Rondo will be a Jason Kidd type player all Rondo needs is a out-side shot and he could go up the mock draft fast becasue Rondo is a really good "D" player and he is a good drive he can drive the ball really good and he will get fouled easy, he can all so grab boards for you he avg. 10rpg thats crazy and he is only 6'1" 171 pounds really good.
