Jeez, it sounds as if Lacob doesn't have anyone in mind for management positions. I hope I'm wrong on this, but reports of good chance of Don Nelson coaching for one year and now comments about Rowell has me concerned. If you have cancer, you have to cut it out! Quick, someone tell me it isn't so.

I don't think Lacob wants a lame duck coach or whatever Rowell's position is. I don't know how these things work exactly but there should be some transition phase where all of that business stuff and hard to get information is transferred and Rowell is not around for much longer.

I never really liked Matt Steinmetz, he seems like a real dick and you can just tell the way he speaks on television.

I didn't like him either, but he's grown on me...he isn't scared to ask the tough question, he's pretty brutally honest, he doesn't kiss as much ass as a lot of commentators. i don't mind him now.

I like Steinmetz. He'll tell it like how he thinks it is and usually I agree with his analysis. When he's wrong, he's wrong. He'll comment about when he's wrong.

I still wonder if he was ever right about Brandan Wright having small hands for his size. He said that on a telecast one season. What matters is: can he catch the ball? Dampier and Foyle could palm the ball but what good is it if they can't catch?

I bet this dude has better hands!

Oh and Rowell? He can't be gone sooner... I bet a monkey can do his job.

He usually takes the easy way out...kinda like Kawakami. It's easy to rip the team while using "anonymous sources" without putting together potential solutions. He's not a reporter, he's a columnist, so let's see your solution. Both have gotten better at that the last few months. I still disagree with Kawakami 99% of the time. Steinmentz reads much better. He's right on more often than not lately, but I just hate looking at him.

I like Steinmetz a lot, he gets more in depth in his full columns, when he's the sideline guy for Comcast at games he tends to have to dumb it down a lot and there just isn't time for anything in-depth. As CR2 says, he doesn't sugarcoat things, and Warriors fans need a dose of brutal honesty. Kawakami goes out of his way to be controversial and make himself look tough, I think he takes that a little too far. Maybe I'm a sucker but when Steinmetz says "my sources are telling me...", I believe it, when Kawakami says the same, I do not.

Anyway, I don't think Rowell will be here long. If he's still here by the All Star break, I'll be shocked.

Steinmetz is underestimating the poison of Robert Rowell. It's far greater than Don Nelson.

I liked Steinmetz when he was the Warriors beat writer, but read Steinmetz less often since he left CCT. So, it's interesting to see when someone posts his stuff.

However, Matt needs to be raked over the coals for:
"What I said was the guy's had the run of the place for the last seven years and he's privy to information that no one else has. He's got information that will likely be valuable to new owners as they go through transition. I realize Rowell is a divisive figure and there are many fans out there who have nothing for disdain for him. But firing him on Day 1 of new ownership would be an emotional decision and it would be one that probably wouldn't help all that much. And when it comes to making emotional decisions, nobody did more of that than the Warriors over the past 10 years. My point is that firing Rowell, while it might satisfy many viscerally, would be an emotional decision just like all the other emotional decisions the Warriors have made and turned out bad.

Now, let me be clear. I don't think Rowell should have any long-term future with the team. I think Rowell should be marginalized and then he should get to work on helping Lacob with the transition. When that's over, he's on his own."

It sounds like Steinmetz got inside info from Rowell throughout the years and now this is payback. Rowell needed to go like yesterday. I want to believe Lacob has plans for management in place, but the stuff we heard about Nelson and now Rowell is something to keep an eye on. You don't have to keep an open mind about this bunch. I do not want it to come down to a situation like talking to your best friend, Lacob, about a bad girl friend. You know she's bad. He doesn't.

Hey Doc. I finally found a way I would like to see Don Nelson go. He gets an eating machine as a lovely parting gift .
