You click this right here and read about the NHL and talk about it in the NHL forums. Everything a dummy needs to know, its pretty simple. This is what will happen this NHL season. Two highlights are the Winter Classic and the Heritage Classic. Theres a lot more hockey to the NHL, heres a list. American Hockey League (AHL), the ECHL, Western Hockey League (WHL), Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), NCAA Hockey, foriegn leagues the like the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and tournnments like the Olympics, and World Juniors. Yours truly, Hockey Moderator and American Football Moderator, DPGB.
False. The core is still around. Each player that Blackhawks lost were basically gained from Rockford. Its not their fault either, salary caps a bitch.
Hockey, in general, is a very poorly played and poorly marketed sport. I watch some of the regular season games and it's just fights and laziness. Then I watch the playoffs and it's an entirely different game. If they played even marginally like they do in I'd have more interest.
Your probably watching two bad teams with bad announcers. Plus, you probably don't know the rules and roles? Am I right about that? Hockey is not that marketed very well in the US, and Portland isn't close to be a hockey city. Go to Chicago, Detroit, Pennsylvania, Canada and you got yourself hockey. Oh I want to add that hockey isn't dramatized like LeBron bullshit, Ochocinco bullshit or TO bullshit. The only drama going on like that in the NHL is the arbitrations.
You have about two or three years to get hockey in the limelight or it is over. When I got my first 1080p 50 inch plasma and watched a hockey game in high def I could actually see the puck as it flew down the ice. Guess what? Still fucking boring. What I am saying is that if it doesn't catch fire now with the advent of amazing tv's that anyone can own, it never will. What channel is it on now by the way? Outdoor Life or LOGO or BET or what?
I don't think your two to three year concept is bad, or good. Its kinda stupid actually. Numbers show its growing, and more and more people are watching. After the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, Chicago was jammed back with fans in the Loop, while the rest of the city was dead. Its growing, and all the commish needs to do is get a contract with another television channel for more views in the US. I do find watching people throw an bright orange ball around fucking boring too. So were not to far away from liking each others sport. Like I said above, its bigger in Canada, its broadcaster a lot more there. Theres games of the week on NBC, and Versus. Versus is basically around because of the NHL. Stations like Comcast cover games as well. I can watch Blackhawks on Comcast, WGN, Versus or NBC. Depending on what channel they take. I made this thread to show the high population of Blazers fans that SportsTwo is more than the Blazers...and if someone here does actually like hockey, that they should come join me. I didn't make this to argue with any of you if hockey sucks or not. Its your fucking opinion. Westnob was the only one here who showed some idea of the NHL. As did Ronan because he actually visits the forums to help me out. I'm not going to argue or bicker with you. You can think whatever you want about hockey, just don't tear down what Im fucking trying to do. I don't need any bullshit.
