Gangs of NY - 7/10. DDL is amazing in this movie. Good movie, loses some of itself in teh 2nd half of the film. The Crazies - 6.5/10 Good movie, I blind bought it because it was onsale @ BB. Olyphant nailed his role. Good movie, good thrills, creepy scenes. Set up perfectly for a sequel.

Sorcerer's Apprentice - 6.5/10 - Typical Bruckheimer/Disney movie, but it was pretty good. I wasn't expecting much out of it, but it surprised me. Set itself up for a sequel too. Dinner For Schmucks - IDK/10 - I'm not sure how to rate this move. It was really, really funny...but it was absolutely retarded. It was a fairly plotless movie, but.....it was still funny. Plus Paul Rudd and Steve Carell were both good in their roles. I just don't know...anyone else see it yet?
1945, "Detour" [video=youtube;jkwETw6mZ6k]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkwETw6mZ6k[/video] The film is told as one long flashback, and begins around the actual ending. We feel for the protagonist, and love to hate the Femme Fatale. Edward G. Ulmer directs with precision and has a keen eye for how to set mood and evoke feelings of desperation. The tone is amazingly consistent, and the moodiness is archetypal Noir. The film is direct and to the point, not wasting time and only lasting 67 minutes. See this if you can, you probably won't regret it. The ending is blunt, and sums up the film in, i think, perfect fashion. 9/10
Zombie Apocolypse -- 2/10 -- I watch a lot of bad movies but this one was awful even for me. Rise: Blood Hunter -- 5/10 -- A seemingly great cast held back by a trite and derivative story. Tits. Incendiary -- 5/10 -- The sun revolves around the main character so much it makes Twilight look like Pulp Fiction. Daybreakers -- 6/10 -- Somehow more like the source material for I Am Legend than the Will Smith movie about it.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - 8.5/10 Any kid who grew up in the 90's and played the NES, Genesis, early arcade games or things of that nature will appreciate the movie more than today's teenagers, but the movie was overall hilarious. I would certainly recommend it.
Kick Ass- 7.5/10. Good flick overall. I know nothing about the graphic novel or comics or whatever it was based off of but would have liked to have seen (SPOILER) more of Kick Ass actually doing things? I guess the point is that he never really does that much and isn't a super hero thus it maintains some reality. And if they do a sequel you have to figure there will be a lot more action for him given that they've gotten all of the plot foundation laid (and there's a lot to cover) in the first one. Surprised they killed Nic Cage. This was a rare time where I wanted to see more of him lol.
The last movie that I saw was The Other Guys. It was okay and typical for Ferrell, but I crave action, horror and humor. Thats why I am checkin out Piranha 3D on Friday! (Kelly Brook in Piranha 3d = mAjor babe!)
Prince of Persia: 7/10 Salt: 7/10 Narc: 10/10 Awesome cop film. Jason Patric and Ray Liotta were fantastic.
True Romance (The Tarentino Cut) -- 8/10 -- I had only seen the original version and it was many years ago. If you know something about Tarentino's life before being a filmmaker you can see that the Clarence Worley character is based of off a romanticized version of himself and his life as a video store nerd (comic book store nerd).
The Shawshank Redemption -- 9/10 Well, this is a classic if I've ever seen one. Nothing more to say, brilliant.
(2010)Scott Pilgrim Vs The World - 7/10 - Fun and visually stimulating. Nothing much else. (2010)The Expendables - 3/10 - I have no idea why this movie was made nor why it was #1 at the box office for two straight weeks. (2009)The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - 7/10 - Paint by numbers thriller with a cliched climax. More intrigued by Noomi Rapace's character than the actual mystery. Her performance has been praised but I don't know if it was her taking the character to another level or just how the character was written or directed. (2008)The Good, The Bad, and The Weird - 9/10 - Good ol' fashioned fun. Sergio Leone homage mixed in with some asian influence. Never dull for a second and I definitely recommend it. Kang-ho Song is quickly becoming one of my favorite international actors. (2010)Animal Kingdom - 8/10 - The editing impressed me, certain key moments being rightly bypassed to infer our understanding. The breaks in action seemed real and needed in order to lead to the next revelation and/or problem. Most importantly the film wasn’t obvious, I wasn’t constantly walking toward obvious answers, and even when I was the film did it in an interesting way and took it up another notch. So far this is one of the years best films I have seen.
Hard Candy - 8/10 - For a movie that focused on two people primarily, it was damn awesome. Creepy as shit, too. I rec. it to everyone. Anchorman - 7/10 - So stupid, but so many quotes.
The King of Comedy -- 9/10 -- under-appreciated at the time it came out and still hardly mentioned among Scorsese's other films. Hard to follow up on Raging Bull, especially with DeNiro's Rupert Pipkin a complete 180 from Jack La Motta, but about as good a performance from him. Has aged well.
