The bottom line is Shaq wanted out of LA and made the ridiculous contract demands to force their hand. It might have worked out differently if Mitch Kupchak was more seasoned at the time, but long term it worked out for the best.

Shaq was much older and had attitude problems, he's never showed any respect for any team he's played at and left the team in bad terms also with fans. I look back on that decision and would happily repeat it, no doubt, because it was not only shaq's dominance that won us those rings, but also Kobe's clutch shooting that contributed heavily to our success in those years.
