That should be everyone's evaluation of the two at this point. Rose's ceiling is one the best PGs ever and has a basement of Steve Francis. Let's hope he pans out into the former.
I have to agree that Rondo is better right now, and while I do believe he is talented, I think it also comes from playing with 3 future hof's who (while past their primes) were still pretty good when he was starting at PG for that champsionship team. Rose has bigger upside and will be better. Plus, Rondo is defense is somewhat overrated because he takes way too many chances and gets burnt a lot because of them (but like i tell my friends who absolutely hate him, stats dont lie). That shirt is awesome BTW. I wonder if the commercial will be like Kobe's and Rose's commercial for 2k10
Like i said to the other guy, why do Rondo's stats get better when he loses a teammate or two to injury? People saying this, and it is the most half-assed analysis I've ever heard. That is true sometimes, but he's still leaps and bounds ahead of Rose, defensively. All those chances he took led to him leading the league in steals. And when you have KG and Perkins behind you, you can afford to take chances.
Rose is going to develop a cocaine habit and be out of the league in 2 years. It's true because I said so. Bank it.
We're in for a treat watching Rose and Rondo compete for the next 10 years or so. haha I'm sure they're good friends.
And like I said, he's talented (seeing that he can only drive to rim using his speed since he still cant consistently hit a J) but a lot of his stats come from the people he plays around. And yes he is better than Derrick defensively, but derrick is improving on that, plus we have ronnie brewer to help out on the perimeter now as well so we wont need derrick to be the defensive player rondo is cuz thats ronnies job. And saying that he takes chances cuz he has KG and perkins behind him proves my point of his stats being based on who he's around just as much as theyre based on skill level.

I agree, though I hope the Celts are eventually able to retool around him. Rondo's genius, I think, is making good players exceptional.

His stats get better because he has to pick up the slack for one of the star players. If Derrick Rose goes down, Deng's numbers go up since he needs to be the leader and pick up the slack. Doesn't mean he's playing better but of course his stats went up. I think who's better will be proven by who's gonna be starting for team USA this year
Yea he was playing better but at the same time he was taking advantage of a rookie pg who didn't know how to play defense. Also still had Allen and Pierce racking up those assists. If you want to go back to the 09 playoffs, how did the All-NBA 1st team defense player do in that series against a rookie? I still think who's better will be proven by who's starting for team USA. Would you agree?
