That is too much time for these guys to wait. Seems very likely the winner of Fitch/Alves will face the winner of Shields/Kampmann, or, if Dana wants to go the Jr. dos Santos route and keep Shields in line without having him fight the other top contender (Fitch or Alves/Velasquez), something else could happen.

Re: UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen (Aug. 7th) Alves knew he was heavy. He took extra time stepping onto the scale and tried to stand on the edge with half his foot off it. Even nude he was still 0.5lbs. over. He'll get a certain amount of time (2 hours?) to make weight, IIRC.

If he's willing to give 20% of his purse to Fitch, then so be it. He should walk around at a smaller weight like you said or move up to 185, though. Advantage Fitch, though. You know Alves killed himself to get down to 171.5
