this was all news to me.. even though it happened 3 weeks ago. Probably already discussed on here no? http://www.examiner.com/x-19632-Sal...migrant-list-1-person-in-each-household-legal
So legal citizens are fired from their jobs in the United States for helping law enforcement enforce the laws of the United States. Is that right?
So you guys think it's OK for government workers to conduct unauthorized investigations into matters they are not qualified nor trained for?? Why don't we have federal egg inspectors go to stake outs on suspected arms dealers? Why not post EPA officials as border guards? Compiling the list was illegal and distributing the list to the media was illegal. There are proper channels for this sort of thing.
If they were sworn to protect confidentiality then their termination is completely reasonable, you sign your name or take an oath to do something and you do the opposite it's kind of a no brainer your gonna get canned. Bringing criminal charges seems to far if all they did was list names though, unless they were explicitly told charges would be brought if they broke confidentiality.
I think they broke the law by compiling the list and dispersing it to the media. I'm sure I would face the same charges if I made a list (which contained sensitive info) of suspected drug dealers in my community and released it to the TV station. I think the title of this thread is misleading. It should read "Utah Workers fired for alleged Illegal Immigrant information"
Absolutely they should be canned. LOL. Strangely enough, 83% of the men in Utah also think they should be allowed to have multiple wives. (I KID I KID) Seriously though, I bet they would change their mind if it was a list of who was behind in their mortage payment... who had unpaid traffic citations... who was suspected of having multiple wives You get the picture. The is not a whistleblower... they stole private government information and distributed it to the press. Not all that different different than Bradley Manning.
confidentiality for who? people who don't exist? as far as the US is concerned, illegal aliens do not exist!
these people on the list are alleged illegal aliens. There hasn't been an investigation into their visa status yet. If I released a list of alleged drug dealers with your private info included how would you feel?
It's not a proper comparison. One accusation would land you in prison. The other would merely get you deported. Being a drug dealer is difficult to disprove. Being a legal citizen couldn't be easier to prove.
OK, If I released a list of alleged illegal aliens with your private info (including SS#, babies due date, etc...) included how would you feel? You could say "Look, here's my visa. I'm here legally", but that doesn't change the fact that your private info has been released to the public. Tell that to the Birthers.
An illegal alien wouldn't have a SSN. Cute. However, you're smarter than that comment. You know why it's in President Obama's interest to withhold the conclusive evidence.
The list these ladies releases included SSN for some people. What about the other private info on the list?? It doesn't bother you that they compiled a list like this and released it publicly? It just seems like a lot of grandstanding and vigilantism
Do the confidentiality guidlines apply only to US citizens? I am asking that as a real question. if they do, then these women might not have done anything wrong. If these ladies at the DHS released info on Arab's illegally in the country suspected of terrorism, would they still be in trouble? Illegal is illegal, right?
