1 more win than the team with Ben Wallace and PJ Brown. Will it have been worth dumping several good players for all the cap space and reshuffling the roster if we win 49 or less this season? Exactly what would make this season a success? I say 53+ wins (some distance between them and the 49 win team) and at least 2nd round in the playoffs.
I don't think it matters how many they win in the regular season as long as they make the playoffs. But I would agree that they need to at least win one series to demonstrate improvement. And if they win one series and get blown out like Atlanta last year, I wouldn't be all that satisfied. They need to compete with Miami, Orlando, or Boston if they haven't crumbled by that point. Barring injuries of course.
I would have like to see them wrangle one more legitimate potentially core player out of this summer. Seeing Ariza get traded for basically cap space by the over the LT Rockets yesterday was kind of a bummer. He brings a lot of the same things Brewer does, but he's got at least a legitimate three point shot. Having him next to Rose would have been pretty cool. I'm still wiling to take a flier on Rudy, and if they get him or one more guy who at least potentially could be a long term SG fit, I'll be happy. Until then, I think it's an unfinished job.
I would too Mikedc. As for the answer to the title of the thread 50 wins means nothing if we are knocked out of the first round again. I think expectations should be make it the eastern finals.
