Look around the league you have wing players scoring at will, people aren't allowed to touch guys driving to the basket. You have perimeter teams like the Suns and Mavericks beating out teams with all-star bigmen, is this good for the league? Everything is looking so perimeter dominated. Is this just a phase or is the league not changing?
Well considering the league set records for attendance this year, fans seem to like it. While I love watching Tim Duncan drop hookshots and Shaq dunk on guys, I don't mind the perimiter stars either
So you don't mind that the game has turned into a SG's league? Where they set FT records? I just think it's ridiculous how guard biased the league is. Attendence records have gone up a lot the last 2 years because of the Bobcats addition.
Fans like the fast-paced game in which each team scores 100+points per game. I dont like that the game is going to be so 1 dementional but the NBA benefits from it and the fans are loving it so I guess there's not much we can do about it. Personally I like big men battles inside and having a great defensive battle, its more interesting to me cuz thats how I play.
Times have changed, their aren't any Hakeem's, Ewing's, Robinson's, etc. All we really have as far as a dominant center is a Shaq on his downfall and Tim Duncan (if you count him as a center).Plus, most fans would rather see an Allen Iverson crossover and up and under layup then a Tim Duncan two-dribble, then hookshot. That's the sad fact. The sad thing is now, is that a lot of people in the stands aren't even basketball fans. They are people with money that decide to blow it on a $300 seat just to go. They don't understand the game or give a damn about it. As long as they see Jason Richardson pull a 360 they are satisfied.People call Duncan too fundamental and too boring, but you know what, he's a great player and no matter how non-flashy he is, he has 3 more rings than most stars in the league today and is one of the greatest PF's of all time.I love watching people like Duncan play fundamental basketball. Fundamentals win. Look at Detroit. Look at San Antonio. Sure, you can call them boring. But hey, they are 2 of the 3 best teams in the NBA (Dallas is in their as well). I love watching that type of basketball. It's played the right way.But the sad fact is, a quick crossover or a windmill is more appealing to fans nowadays than a turnaround jumper or a 10 foot jumper off the glass. Sure it's nice to see some sick plays, don't get me wrong, but I would rather have a fundamental "boring team" than a flashy And1 losing team that commits 20 turnovers a night.Until their are a new breed of dominant big men, don't expect this to change at all. Hopefully Greg Oden can be the start of something. If not, I have no idea how long it's gunna take for big men to take over again. It will happen though, sometime down the road.
It's definetly good for the league. It's more exciting and the NBA has higher attendance than before. What I don't like are the ticky tack fouls being called not enabling the defender to do much on defense. They need to allow the defender to do more.
So what your saying is that this is great for the game with higher attendence but then you say that you want things the other way where defenders can defend? So?...
I like watching guys like Tim Duncan and Shaq do their thing rather than all this other sh*t. These guys do what they got to to win and it is effective seeing as how they led teams to 6 of the last 7 championships.

At the same time however, I don't see it as a major problem.
