Why does everyone make a big deal about players changing numbers? I mean, really, it's just a number. And there are more important numbers our there. Such as the score...

The only number that matters in sports is 23...you can't tell me otherwise.

I'm willing to bet money, the league has some kind of influence on these players changing their jerseys. New numbers mean new jerseys, new jerseys mean more fans buying those jerseys, more fans buying those jerseys means more money.

That seems to me like a point Guard/Shooting Guard number</div>Yea I gotta agree with you on that one. I like the number, but personally, if he changes his number he should change it to something distinct so that years after retirement people remember him by it.

Suns should be a stronger team next year, now that they've learned to play tough without one of their best players, with him back they should be a much stronger team.

Amare had the same thing done on his leg that Penny Hardaway did...

I think he needs to adopt 99. Pick something different and make it popular. PFs/Centers should never choose #1. It is a guard number.

Chris Webber, Allan Houston, Jamal Mashburn, Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, and Jason Kidd have all undergone the surgery. Amare's injury is a very hard thing to return from in the same shape as before.

This does seem akward for a big man like him but then again Ben Wallace is a good big man and he wears #3.
