    Mark Hughes will not sell.
Expect to see Almunia or Fabianski as the #1 this season.

Re: Mark Hughes not willing to sell Schwarzer to Arsenal [updated]

Goalkeeping is such an important part of the game. A good goalkeeper generates confidence in the back. The defenders feel safer and can take more chances pushing the ball forward. The midfielders don't feel the need to hang back, either. Poor goalkeeping changes the dynamic of the team. Everyone ruses to get back, plays break down, the offence stagnates. Focusing too much on defending can also have the opposite effect, causing congestion and confusion in the box and leading to mistakes.

It is really frustrating because two or three signings are needed to make us legit title contenders. It is great that Wenger has faith in the guys he's developed but not at the expense of winning trophies. We're talking about starting Fabianski, Frimpong, Wilshere, Koscilny, and Chamakh on Sunday--what more can be said? Are we not in it for the title this year?

I would approve if we spent above 25M for a very good GK. We are the only top 4 club who doesn't have a solid keeper, even man shitty and newcastle have better GK's.

We really need to show Cesc we are. If he sees the silverware that can be won then he could maybe convinced to stay.

Anyone else get the feeling Wenger will spend ~25m during the winter window? December onwards is where we always choke. We seem to be on-fire during the early months of the league.

I feel like we have four keepers that can all get the number 1 spot. That can't be healthy two days before our first game...

Either he procrastinated right until the last, settling on Schwarzer after it was too late, or that story was just rubbish to begin with. Either way its obviously not a priority for him.

We already knew they weren't going to sell Schwarzer. There are articles that he has put in a transfer request but you never know what's bullshit nowadays.

    Really disappointed with Arsene.

Hart had a fantastic performance against Sp*rs today. Good news for us if we want Given.

Also, Schwarzer was not in Fulham's squad today. Move on?

Finally, Shay is also considered homegrown which could be decisive in his move to another club.

So, the Schwarzer rumors have died down and we're now being linked with Shay Given. I've read almost 50 different articles saying that the deal is close to completion. Warren Barton has also said he will join Arsenal. Would be very happy if this was true.

I HIGHLY doubt Given will be coming to Arsenal, considering Shitty will be competing for a top 4 spot presumably with the last seasons top 4. What i find more realistic is Given is loaned to Fulham, (Hughes connection) and we get Schwarzer for 2.5m.
