My Uncle is continually forwarding me these emails. It amazes me not only that he completely believes them but how many times these are forwarded and re-forwarded on an on an on. Then at family holidays and get togethers he'll get worked up talking about how the country is going to hell while using these emails as examples of the truth that is being hid from us by the liberal media.
I wanted to reproduce it on here just like it looks in the email so the only thing I could think to do was upload the pics to flickr so they would show like they do in the body of the email. It took me a little longer then I thought it was going to, lol.
LOL my grandma used to do things like that about Obama being a terrorist.. then my mom told her that we are all democrats and we support Obama so she should stop. Thankfully, she did.
Shoot, doesn't everyone have an uncle or aunt, or brother, or sister, or dad, or mom, or grandfather, or grandmother, or friend, or _______ like that? I've learned. These days, I usually try and find the Snopes rebuttal link.................then copy all.
The funny part is that the country is going to hell. The only problem with those emails is that they are a just one symptom of the problem, not proof in any way shape or form. I almost wonder if people don't make up that stuff to distract us from what is really happening. Edit.... I meant symptom of the problem in that people get too caught up in crazy stuff and don't worry about the real issues.
They don't necessarily make it up, but they embellish the hell out of it. My grandparents, in their late 80's, eat this shit up like it's candy. They're convinced that the "liberals/communists/socialists" are out to destroy the country, and what not...so I asked him if he cashes his social security check, uses medicare and liked the fact he could retire at 60 instead of still working in his late 60's like his son. Their station of choice? Fox News and KXL. My point is that people (on both sides of the fence) make stuff up to scare (usually) older people into believing stuff. and older people are the ones who vote more often, usually have more expendable money and listen to talk radio and watch news all day. They know their targeted audience is easily swayed, and run with it.
I'm just surprised that first, people actually take the time to make this crap up (or spin & distort truths into complete lies) and just the amount of people who just keep forwarding these things. I've done the snopes thing a few times but most are so obvious you don't need to. Also in an odd, slow down when passing a bad accident kind of way, I kind of enjoy them. My uncle is obviously going to continue to believe these things no matter how many links I send him. If I do that too much he'll just eventually take me off of the list of those he forwards them to. Some of these are just too crazy fun to miss out on reading.
This one is almost cute. Illegal immigration is a serious issue and a huge problem. There are tons of very good articles and interviews out there. But instead someone actually took the time to make this up? Viva Mexico!
Ok if someone believes that was a real conversation, they deserve to be deported. What's funny about that email is it's at least 3 1/2 years old.
Lots of the ones he forwards are years old. Not sure if they've been out there clogging those internet tubes for that long or people resurrect them from time to time.
...it is so funny that you posted this, I just had it out with one of my uncles over their mis-informed hate emails for any and all things Islam! It is sad that so many Americans are ignorant TV zombies...
This one he sent me last moth. I knew it instantly it was only an urban legend but I had to "snopes" anyway just to see how old it was. While I didn't copy all of the font sizes a colors throughout the email that I got I did leave all the weird formatting that happened to it and additional comments that were added to the beginning and end as a result of it's umpteenth forwardings.
