Yeah, that was the comment. Personally I think Rudy wants to be a good teammate and wants to be a great player, but I don't know that he has enough self awareness to recognize that he possesses some real flaws to his game. So he ends up feeling under utilized and misused, but hasn't quite grasped just what it means to look at himself critically, and address his shortcomings. I thought he was sandbagging during part of the season becuase he was being calculating and wanted to force an out, but now I think he was sandbagging because he got his 'feelers' hurt and his ego was bruised -- I'm not sure if one reason is better or worse than the other, but I think it's pretty clear that Rudy still has some growing up to do.
No Doubt. I guess that's what can happen when you grow up a star. I'd put LBJ in that category as well.
Of Rudy's court time what percentage did he share the backcourt with Miller, and what percentage did he share with Roy or Bayless?
Based on the 20 5-man rotations listed for him at 82games.com, about 27% with Miller, 45% with Roy or Bayless, 18.5% with Miller AND Roy or Bayless, and 9.5% with none of the three. Why do you ask?
Just wondering if Rudy plays better with a proper PG, and having plays run for him; rather than being a spot up shooter when he's playing with Roy, or having to create for himself with Bayless.
I'm not looking at any hard data, or synergy stats, but just relying on memory and my best guess. I'm not sure "plays better" is the right word, but perhaps "who is he most comfortable with" is better? In that case I think it's undoubtedly a pass first point guard who knows how to find him when he's cutting off of a screen or when there's motion in the offense. which is to say, I don't think Rudy is particularly comfortable standing, catching and shooting, even though he's not terrible at it. It goes without saying that Bayless and Rudy were a terrible combo.
So, Rudy and the Blazers have "come to an agreement" as to get him traded just as soon as possible? Jill Savage just reported it. May be old news, not sure.
This is the best Rudy quote ever http://blog.oregonlive.com/blazers/2008/09/updates_from_blazers_media_day.html
No Doubt! ^^^ Let's get that Rudy back eh. Oh wait I forgot, too many quitters around here. Damn sandbagging Blazer fans
I think Rudy plays better when he's not returning too soon from back surgery and being called a failure because he isn't Brandon Roy.
At least Rudy's an SG! LMA has been called a failure because he isn't Brandon Roy, and he's not even playing the same position!
