This post should be proof that it's the middle of August ... don't shoot!! http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=29grvy4 I cobbled this together from a couple of "rumors" (credit to Discovery69 at clubblazers.com for the impetus of this trade idea). A) The Warriors have apparently been talking to Portland and ... B) The Pacers are reportedly after another big man (or two?) Blazers Out: Rudy, Bayless, Pendergraph and Joel Blazers in: Monta Ellis and Brendan Wright Why they do it: They send Rudy somewhere he can fit (big city, probably a prominent role, but not a contender .. 2 out of 3 criteria aint bad?). In return they get Monta "not a point guard" Ellis and a nice power forward prospect in Brendan Wright who has been very good per minute, but is a terrible in fit in Nelson's system. I'm not sure if I like the idea of Ellis on this team, but maybe as a super sub sixth man he'd be a pretty good fit? ... yeah and maybe I'm a Chinese jet pilot. Pacers Out: TJ Ford Pacers In: Andris Biedrins, Pendergraph Why they do it: They get rid of TJ Ford without having to buy him out and get some big bodies who can rebound and bolster their front line Warriors Out: Ellis, Wright, Biedrins Warriors In: Jerryd, Rudy, Joel and TJ Ford Why they do it: The Warriors shed two long term contracts for 19 million in expiring deals but they also get some guards who can fill in the hole that Ellis leaves, and maybe Joel even gives them some production if he really is on target to be ready by opening night.
agreed, i'd do it. I wish Cho has a "send me your ideas" website. Have an intern go through them and send him realistic ones.
I like it. I saw a similar rumor from Discovery69 on another site, yet, when he decided to speculate on a deal, he also had us getting Paul George, which was a little ridiculous. I like your version better as being slightly more reasonable. I worry GS will look to shop Ellis at the deadline, and unless it is as a 6th man, I don't like switching PGs mid season.
Damn I forgot to mention D69 was whom I got the seed of the idea from. In any case I tweaked his proposal a little bit, since I don't see any way that the Pacers give up their prized lotto pick without having a chance to see him in a Pacer's uniform.
Yeah, that's why i like yours better. Well, no, I like getting george, but yours would be more believeable, in my opinion.
Does this even come close to having trade merit? Blazers Out (to Phoenix): Bayless, Cunningham, Fernandez Blazers In: Dragic, Dudley
Wait, what? I missed it I think. What lotto pick? From what I see now, Pacers make out like bandits. They get possibly the most valuable player in the whole deal, and they only give up TJ Ford to get it. They have to add more to the kitty.
