Bobby Jenks deemed himself ready for action on Wednesday night at Target Field, after throwing a 30-pitch bullpen before Tuesday's series opener with the Twins, avoiding a potential trip to the disabled list. The White Sox closer had thrown just 1 1/3 innings and appeared in only two games out of the past 10 due to back spasms. The pain caused Jenks to be removed from Thursday's home contest against the Twins three batters into the ninth. On Tuesday, Jenks threw all of his pitches and worked to both sides of the plate. He provided a verbal thumbs-up when the session concluded. "I started out light and worked into a good workout," Jenks said. "Everything felt fine. The ball was coming out of my hand good. Jenks will continue to receive treatment on his back for the rest of the week, but said he will play it by ear from that point through the rest of the season. About the only positive surrounding the injury is that it was nothing more than muscular. "No strain, no pull, no tear," said Jenks.
