Andy Pettitte threw his bullpen session as scheduled at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Then, he went to a hospital. That part was not scheduled.

The Yankees said Pettitte would undergo an MRI on his strained left groin "basically to set his mind at ease." He left Yankee Stadium for Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital shortly before the start of Tuesday night's game against the Tigers and about an hour after completing a throwing session. Pettitte first played catch in the outfield and then moved the bullpen, throwing approximately 40 pitches off both a half mound and a full mound.
