He's really never had to play without a pointguard. First he had Kidd, then Marbury, now Nash. And if you look at his stats his worst shooting season was the season where he was without any of those three for half a season, the second half of 04.

While Marion doesn't create his own shot very much at all, and probably wouldn't play to well without someone to help set him up, part of being a good basketball player is knowing what kind of basketball player you are. Marion is the hustle hard, get rebounds, move well without the ball type of player. Marion is great at finding the open space on the floor, and getting there, which in turns gets him the ball for the open shots. I think being able to move without the ball to get open shots, is almost as valuable as being able to create your own shot with the ball. His rebounding is outstanding for someone only 6'7 even if it is a little inflated because of all of the shots. Those one or two idiots that said Marion for MVP may have him a bit overated, but the general public gives him the props he deserves without over doing it for being an outstanding ball player.

if marion is naturally a SF and can play the PF and still produce great numbers, that's amazing and deserves praise. of course he isn't a MVP because nash is. the suns need marion because he can run and defend on the break. that's what makes him so great for this team.

Last year he had to fight for shots because Amare was Nash's primary target and the guys on the wing (Q and JJ). Shawn had to use his athletic ability to get alot of his points on his own. Im he ever got traded for Dirk and went to the Mavs (not saying anything here) he could manage on his own and still get 20 points a game. He would be very good on iso's. He is really quick and would be able to blow by people for dunks.

The article in Slam 99 made me dislike Marion even more. It was pretty much him crying over how he should get more respect during the whole thing. Pretty sad

I used to assume he was a humble player but after that article he really changed my mind. I couldnt believe how much he was complaining about recognition and it was kind of funny how much he kept emphasizing that hes only 6'7 lol

Thats just him being confident. And yeah, I read the article. But seriously, you have to give it up to guys like him and Elton Brand and also Ben Wallace. The small guys getting 10+ rebounds a game. Very impressive

Elton Brand and Ben Wallace are hardly small...Brand is 6'8" 260 pounds with spider arms and Wallace is 6'8" 245 pounds of pure muscle...If someone is 6'9" they are small but they aren't when they are 6'11"...I see little difference.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Lakaboy42 @ May 27 2006, 11:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>He's really never had to play without a pointguard. I don't know if this has been discussed, but I have found Ben Wallace to have become vastly overrated. Everyone calls him the best defender in the post, a game changer... Then when they compare him to Tim Duncan, they forget that Duncan has identical numbers on a better defensive team. Come on now

You give that much money to Big Ben, your starting to become an Isiah Thomas.

I think Ben's image helps him a lot...He's built like a truck, has a huge afro...etc...very overrated defender.
