That's all neat and stuff, but what does it have to do with the price of tea in China? Broadcast rules are completely different than CD rules. It's why movies and album can have explicit words in them (and in the case of movies, scenes) and radio programs, songs and tv shows can't. It's why on HBO they can have a scene where a guy takes a dump in another guys mouth (on Oz) and on SNL a person will get fired for swearing on TV. It's why CD's will have swearing on them, and KXLY doesn't. It's why there is a 7 second delay on live TV broadcasts (and radio broadcasts) and there isn't on CD's. The rules don't apply to CD's the same way they do to radio programs. Being able to "understand" what word they're saying doesn't matter in this argument.
Yet she had a long affair in the 70s with Bill Ballance (the leading LA Top 40 rock DJ, frequent liberal pro-sexual revolution jokes on air, I loved him). Maybe she was a police informer, because as soon as the affair was over she became famous by saying she opposed all that stuff. We found out years later about the lying hypocrite's affair and nude pictures. Wow, hold that with the edge touching a mirror--you won't believe the dirty image!
Sarah Palin had added her $.02 (but not the $12 million she's pulled in since quitting her job for the good of the country) by tweeting to Schlesinger to "reload not retreat" and saying Schelsinger has been "shackled". So apparently Palin wants Schlesinger to "reload" racist rants and believes being criticized for them is the same as slavery. Incidentally, Palin called for Rahm Emanuel to resign after he used the word "retarded", saying that was as "unacceptable as using the n-word". Apparently the n-word is another IOKIYAR (it's OK if you're a Republican). BTW, Schlesinger was vehemently opposed to the Republican's nominating Palin because Palin had returned to work after giving birth to a developmentally disabled child and said the R's should have nominated a woman whose children were grown if they wanted a woman on the ticket. Ah, hypocrisy!
I always found it annoying that she billed herself as a "doctor", when her PHD was in physiology. (Her dissertation was on insulin in rats.)
Yes, her degree is not in psychology, it's in physiology. She's a glorified P.E. major. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Schlessinger Radio career Schlessinger's first time on radio was not as a host, but as a caller to the show of shock jock forerunner[9] Bill Ballance in 1974. Impressed by her quick wit and sense of humor, Ballance began featuring her in a weekly segment. Ballance, who was married, also began a two year romantic relationship with her, which came to light many years later.[3] Schlessinger's stint on Ballance's show led to her own shows on a series of small radio stations... Personal life She married her first husband Michael F. Rudolph, a dentist, in 1972 when she was 25. She admitted to least two extramarital affairs before they were divorced in 1976[2]. Second marriage and later family life In the mid-1970s while working in the labs at USC[citation needed], she met Lewis G. Bishop, a professor of neurophysiology who was married and the father of three children.[3] According to divorce filings, Schlessinger and Bishop began an affair. Bishop left his wife and moved in with Schlessinger. They lived together as an unmarried couple for approximately nine years, and Schlessinger tried to get pregnant after reversing an earlier tubal ligation and suffering an ectopic pregnancy. Bishop and Schlessinger married in early 1985 with Schlessinger announcing at the wedding that she was pregnant.[3]
does saying ****** scare people into believing whatever you want them to believe? i mean i have no idea who this person is and really could not possibly care any less who she is, but that seems like an odd argument to make.
As someone who knows a couple people with PhDs in physiology, I'd rather not see Dr. Laura's status as a hypocritical, ignorant blowhard impugn the people who have earned similar degrees. They're much more than glorified PE majors. That said, Dr. Laura, who earned that title but isn't presenting it in the proper context, deserved to be fired and does not deserve the outcry of public support from ignorant fools who support her on the grounds that her free speech is being stifled. She can say the n word all she wants as long its not done in a way that creates a clear and present danger as per the law, but she needs to deal with the consequences of it. Saying that its on HBO and rap music all the time isn't a good argument for you being able to say it. Its a good argument for saying that they shouldn't use it there either.
