I have been reading various 'insider' blogs about Arsenal agreeing a fee with Sevilla. He has reportedly agreed a three-year contract and will move to London for a fee believed to be around £8 million. He will be flying into London tonight for a medical on Monday. You heard it here first, updates to follow.
Hm, I'm hearing the fee could be as low as £3m or as high as £8m. Some other newspapers reporting it to be £6.5m.
You're letting the Arsenal pessimism creep in, mate. This is a great signing on a couple of levels. He is experienced in the highest league in Spain, he has Champion's league experience, he isn't cup-tied, he is a leader, he is relatively cheap, he is great at heading the ball and tackling, he is not like Koscielny who relies on his reading of the game Squillani can take his man out.
Defending is alot tougher in the Prem, my question is, will his Age (30) withstand the physical aspect of the prem league? Spanish league is for pussies, it's slower and more technical league.
He is more physical than both Vermaelan and Koscielny (in my opinion, of course), so I think he will be okay. We'll have to wait and see. By the way, he has only been in Spain for two years. Spent the rest of his career in France.
This signing has been confirmed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/8928237.stm
