Considering "Wheels" was rarely there, it's not a surprise. Plus, Kenny Vance can't carry a conversation, let alone an entire show, by himself.
Wheels has essentially been promoted to be a roamer amongst many of the local shows. I think this was his call....considering his "full-time" duties as the team's p-b-p guy.
Sure, he'll be the guest star on many. Nonetheless, call it a promotion, or not. His leaving is by his own choice.
I've never done radio, but I'm guessing it is a grind and doesn't pay a lot at that level. His real job is broadcasting and he probably just wants to concentrate on that.
The official word was that it was wearing him out...especially during the b-ball season... It bums me out since I'm usually in the car around that time and I enjoyed him.
This is too bad, well at least for me. I really enjoyed his show, and thought it was the best of all of the 95.5 programming. I guess it's back to my XM at lunch time.
Jay just said that Kenny is leaving The Game in about 2 weeks. He got a job as an editor for a small paper in Clark County. http://www.thereflector.com/thisweek/story2.php Jay also said that they will fill the "Wheels @ Work" time slot with another local host that they hope to hire in the next few days.
I hope they either get the "and Booms goes the dynamite" guy, or HCP. It's not like they said they're going after TALENT (why start now?).
He'd be fine...provided he could keep Timbers talk to a relative minimum. BTW, found a nice little Vietnamese restaurant with very good pho. It's located in the little strip mall behind the Kings Buffet off SE 123rd and Mill Plain.
