This is one of the few shows on TV that I actually schedule to watch, and save on the DVR for multiple viewings. It's absolutely fucking brilliant and hilarious.

However, when is it going to hit the wall? CBS is promoting the SHIT out of it, Sheldon's potential girlfriend angle could be the death blow of this show, and the Leonard/Penny arc is PLAYED. But lets face it, every show since the dawn of television has hit that wall, where the jokes run out and they start doing self-referencial regurgitation.

I'm hoping that they avoid that, at least this season. But I'm not holding my breath.

It burned too bright, too quick.

What is this about Sheldon and a girlfriend?

I think it's move to Thursday will be a bad move. I also think that they're gonna try to change the show too much, to keep it "fresh". They probably need to lay off of the typical jokes (Raj and Wolowitz) and stick more to the three characters that drive the show (Penny, Sheldon and Leonard).

He can be, but unless they expand his character beyond the fact he can't; talk to women unless he has a drink, it's not funny.

Same with Howard's character. Ok, he's Jewish, we get it. Ok, he's kind of at a loss for how much of a tool he is. Maybe change his hair just a little too.

I love the show, but I find that shows only have about two or three seasons in them before they go either stale or distort themselves beyond recognition. I was thrilled to find that such an intelligent show could get the ratings it did in America. It gave me a little hope (insert overly optimistic tangent about the future of intelligent media and making couch potatoes smarter).

Not sure if most of America gets 20% of the jokes, they just laugh at the characters and their quirks. But you are right, it is a show that gives it's audience a hell of a lot of credit for knowing something. Maybe it speaks to the geek-ification of America, which actually gives one some hope, like you said.

Maybe I should give the show another shot, but I watched 1 segment of 1 episode and had to shut it off. Maybe its just not my cup of tea, but the non stop punchlines...none of which were funny...all of which were obvious really put me off. Based on that one experience, it'd have to rank as one my least favorite shows (since you tend to forget shows you dislike and this one I actively avoid).

But, since everyone here seems to love it, next time its on I'll give it another shot.

It's my favorite show on network television. I think they've only begun to tap a rich vein of storylines and I expect it to go in some great directions.
