Are you sure it's not working? I see several things to show the contrary. They haven't taken a bad deal. If they weren't in control of the situation, they would have taken a bad deal. I see it as working as intended, with one unhappy camper who doesn't like how its going for him. Considering this is Cho's first move, he will also want to show he is in charge and won't be bullied by some stupid agent. This will define his career going forward. Is he going to be a GM who runs the show, or is he going to be a GM who is bullied. I am willing to bet he will set an example, and run the Rudy situation how he wants to, on his schedule.

Once again, I want our team to be better next this season. Trading him for a first round pic will not accomplish this. Rather have him sulk and help us from time to time then give up on him.

Not me, I want Rudy burned at the Stake.

We never gave Bonzi, Damon, or Sheed a second chance from their criminal antics, why should be give someone who complains from being frustrated a chance? That is an unforgivable offense.

The major difference here is that Bonzi, Damon, and Sheed all wanted to play here, whereas Rudy...uh, not so much.

    +1

I don't want to trade him for a chair or a piece of gum.

I have little faith in Cho to make a good deal. Prove me wrong!

All Parties have responsibility, I believe Portlanders demonized him to the point of no return.

Maybe if we gave him a second chance after the playoff's flounder, he would want to come back.

I don't see any big rush to dump Rudy for a draft pick. I think that option is always available. I'd rather see Cho hold onto him into the season and see if a better offer comes along, perhaps when some team loses a player to injury and needs a replacement, or as part of a trade deadline deal involving other players. If Rudy comes to camp, great. Perhaps he will be willing to bust his butt to try to repair his trade value. If he holds out, he doesn't cost the Blazers anything.

Yes, it's the fans' fault that Rudy doesn't want to play in Portland.

The fans cheered him until he turned on the team. You turn on the team, you have turned on the fans. They even cheered him through some of those dreadful playoff performances, and through several other rumored "Rudy Unhappy" stuff that cropped up in the past. The fans, and the team have gone beyond duty in supporting this guy. What really needs to happen is for Rudy to take responsiblity for his poor play and work on his game. Right now if it anybody else's fault but his in his mind. When he realizes the problem is him, he will move forward. Rudy has shot about 20% since he came back from injury, in a lot of games, with a lot of wide open looks. Losers make excuses. Winners find a way to get it done.

I'm coming around to this line of thinking. We should be able to get a draft pick for him any time. I'm also in favor of teaching a player under contract who's in charge.

Jason Fleming goes over the options. As he points out, they can't just send us a draft pick for Rudy. But they can send us Lafayette and Gaffney and a pick, which is essentially the same.

Rudy and Pendergraph and Dante for Big Baby? Hmm. I think I'd give it serious thought. I'm not sure Nate and Big Baby would see eye to eye, though...

I'd take a 2012 First Rounder from Boston. It could be a lottery pick. Yeah, it's two years out, but if we gave up Rudy for a 2011 pick it would not be a lottery pick. But if Boston doesn't make a deep run in the playoffs this year, the 2011-12 season could see them try to unload salary and their veterans. Plus, I don't think Rudy has much value to this team.

To HCP: I don't think Rudy makes this team better. Rudy doesn't play defense, besides the occasionally steal, but if he doesn't get the steal he gets burned badly. His limited offense can be more than made up for with Matthews, Bayless, and Batum getting more time.

I wouldn't mind Avery Bradley....Let him and Armon Johnson fight it out with Bayless perhaps? You have Miller for another year at least and not much longer after that, this team needs a long term option at PG...I see no reason to stockpile some young talents, let them fight it out and see who emerges....

You forgot to add "that an available Boston player would be good for".
Portland still lacks a packup point guard and/or a point guard of the future.

It would be nice if they could some how turn Rudy into a glimmer of hope on that front.

You really need to work on your comprehension of how timelines work. Rudy was asking for a trade back in December ... the demonization came waaaaaaay after that.

We should somehow try to swing a trade with the Celtics and Raptors, so we can have Jarrett Jack off the Blazers bench.
