Zach Miller is playing his first full season on the Nationwide Tour, and after one round at the Knoxville News Sentinel Open, the California native is in the mix for his first win.

Miller scored four birdies and an eagle to grab the 1st round lead at Fox Den Country Club. He is at 6-under after shooting a 66 on a sunny and warm day. Five players are tied for second at 5-under. Among them is former PGA and British Open champion John Daly.

"It was a good, solid day," said Daly after rolling in a 15-foot putt for a par-save on 18. I made a few putts and had a lot of opportunities. Me and Dave were looking at each other coming up the last hole and we were looking at each other coming up the hole and we were going 'wow, we really could have been low today'."

Daly is in a group with seven other golfers at 5-under par. Among them is 3-time PGA Tour winner Kirk Triplett.
