I'm not really... if they are that even.. then you give it to the guy who will be around for th enext 3 years. If they werent even, then yeah if Costa is ahead you give it to him. But Costa is what he is IMO.. Thomas if (as allegedly reported) every bit as equal.. he isnt at his ceiling.

Thomas is from the Houston area.

    Local boy done good baby!!!

The Rogers brothers are from my area also. Actually, until the new HS was built, my kids would have went to the same HS as the Rogers brothers.

I guess I was surprised as this team may be so good that I would have wanted a veteran to keep them poised. Not that I discount the point to have a three year starter in Thomas, but think it unnecessary as he would have gotten plenty of snaps this season with their schedule and would have easily been ready for next year.

I see your point. But I also was reading that Thomas is better at rallying guys around him... just seems to have more of that leader aspect. Of course this is all from what I'm reading... I have only seen the Spring game this year.

Canzano is stating that the players and people are all the opposite. That Thomas is just a pup... That's why Canzano is a crap journalist.

I'm more excited about Jerrard Randall than any of them. Crazy fast kid the Ducks nabbed out of SEC country.

11' class is shaping out nicely and its just getting started.

Randall, Sumler and the Russian kid from Arizona are already on board. Plus, I think they have the inside track on the beast kid at Hillsboro high that schools all over the country are slobbering over.

LOL... except Thomas is the drop back passer and Costa is the runner. =) I think Thomas is much more like Joey Harrington... but I am excited either way... can't WAIT for college football!

    I'll make you a deal.

I will stop posting the 2 things about Houston a year, if you stop posting the 200 things about you a year. Deal?

Also, I think it might be impossible for the 4th largest city in the country to be boring. Hot, is another thing all together though. :)

From what I've seen and everything I've read, DT is the superior runner. Costa did post a fraction faster 40 time, but Thomas has more shiftyness and size/power. He also has a much higher release point on his passes as Costa is both shorter and has a side armed release. I've followed the preseason reports, and he's seemed to have a slight edge in both completion % and throwing less interceptions. It sounds like the coaches chose the guy who showed better.

    stoked for the season

Like Wheels mentioned if all things are equal I think you go with Thomas because he may be around for 3 years. From what I remember when I saw him play... which wasn't much... but he didn't look like an option guy... which will be interesting to see if they make him one or if it just was something he didn't get a chance to show... because Oregon's offense seems to depend on that so much.

coming out of HS, rivals ranked Thomas as the #6 dual threat QB. They also listed him as having a 39" vert and a 3.3 GPA. He spoke of possibly being a receiver in college...dude's a top shelf athlete
