If that's the case, patches are gonna cost money. Each of those patches will cost just as much money as buying the new game, maybe more. Might as well buy the new game.
The issue with doing this, and a big reason why they never will, is there's still a good chunk of the gaming population that's not on XBL or PSN. Not everyone has high-speed internet, so if they just updated the game on a yearly basis through patches and online purchases, there would be people who wouldn't be able to.
Sliders can fix that. Reduce your run blocking, increase their tackling or awareness, any of those help. I'm averaging a shade over 5 YPC, which isn't bad. I've had some really good games, and I've had some clunkers. I will admit though, running has been the toughest thing for me to figure out sliders for this year, both CPU and human. I've got decent, but I still don't think they're as good as they could be. The other thing I recommend is increasing the speed threshold to about 70. Doing that really cuts down on the big plays, which was a big issue with the run game for me. It was too easy for backs to rip off 30+ yard runs with it defaulted at 50 (big plays in general were to prominent, at default there'd be at least four 50+ yard plays per game between the teams), at 70 it doesn't happen nearly as often.
I just had the best game ever online. I was playing a dude that was pretty good. It was 7-7 with about 15 secs left in the 1st half and he was on my 1 about to score. He had slowly moved the ball there to make sure I wouldn't have enough time to score after he did. Anyways, he decides to PA pass, and I pick 6 him. Then, I kick it off, the ball lands in the end zone and I guess he thought it was out of bounds or didn't know the play was still going on, but I got the ball in the end zone for another TD. 21-7 at halftime haha
