In an update on Chris Jericho’s contract status with World Wrestling Entertainment, his current deal — which was signed in 2007 — expires in a few weeks and he has yet to sign a new one. While both sides are negotiating a new deal, it is not guarantee that he will remain with the company. http://www.prowrestling.com/article/news/16213
I wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't get a new deal. While I'd like to see him back, I think his character also needs a makeover, because he's grown pretty stale to me recently.
I really hope he doesn't leave. Jericho is one of my top 5 of all time. I also agree Moo, he needs to be Y2J again. They should also keep continuing on with this Jericho and Edge alliance, I'm loving it.
After last nights Raw, I get the feeling that they couldn't get a contract ironed out. I really don't think he's going to win that 6 Pack Challenge match for the title.
True...so he could be getting one now. I dunno though, I think WWE is working on pushing their younger talents. That's why we see Sheamus with the title and seeing Randy and Cena constantly in it (and yes, I'm aware they're both early 30s, but that's still pretty young for a wrestler). I also think there's a real good chance Barrett wins it and decides that he's too good for the Nexus and breaks it up. I dunno, that's just my crazy speculation, but I'm pretty excited to see that match to see how it unfolds.
Yeah I cannot see Jericho winning, and to tell you the truth I'm tired of him backing down, not working with the teams and so on.
TNA could use him, but he doesn't need TNA as much as TNA needs him. He always has Fozzy to fall back on. He left the WWE for a while once before.
I don't really think Jericho needs anything at this stage in his life. I'm relatively sure he's comfortably set for life with his current finances. And I'm really curious as to what's going to happen now that he's out of the Six Pack Challenge Match.
His character has gotten stale. They brought him back to be the answer for Orton. Well that didn't work to well. He's a great heel, if not one of the best. He just needs to be revamped.
If they keep him heel, what could they do with his character, how could they breathe fresh life in to it? Personally, I think the only way they could really reinvigorate his character is by switching him to face, even if is just a brief, couple month stint. At least it could potentially get people more interested in his character again, and then I'm sure they could find a way for him to do a 180 with his character and become a heel again. Whether it be by siding with a face and then stabbing them in the back, anything. They just need to find some way to make his character relevant again, because his current, "I'm the best ever, blah blah blah" character, is boring.
I haven't read anything. There also isn't any confirmation of a contract either. I imagine we'll find out at least a little more on Raw this upcoming week.
