Not surprisingly: they'd give up Anthony Randolph. Interestingly, it seems we'd prefer Indiana's pick to Randolph. Are we that desperate to make room for Patty Mills?
Depending on the protection on the pick, I might rather have the pick over Randolph. he is an intriguing prospect for sure, but I don't see tons of developmental minutes for him, behind Camby and Aldridge at PF, and then when he doesn't play, and start getting offers for his potential, people would just complain about him being another Jermaine O'Neal.
At least we aren't overvaluing Rudy Randolph would be a steal for Rudy. I'm all for a pick, but WTF Cho?
The Knicks get screwed pretty bad in this deal and a no-brainer to turn down. The Knicks probably asked around for what it would take to get a 1st from another team and Indiana asked for AR. I would love to get Turiaf from them and think it is more realistic.
Uhm, it said the Knicks said no. How is that Cho's fault? Clearly, they didn't want to give up Randolph for Rudy, regardless of where Randolph is going.
Any way we could work out a three way with Atlanta where we got Crawford and Turiaf and sent out Pryz and Bayless to Atlanta and Rudy to New York? It think both of those teams kind of would like bigs back is the only thing (because neither really have any, the knicks may be very reluctant to give up Turiaf, but I'd like to get him a lot). Maybe we throw in Pendergraph? We'd be very balanced out... Miller/Crawford Roy/Matthews Batum/Cunningham Aldridge/Turiaf Oden/Camby with Johnson, Mills, Williams, and Babbit on the bench.
From the article: "Because the Trail Blazers are insisting on receiving a first-round pick in return for Fernandez" Well, according to the team we've turned down two teams offering us a first round pick. So what is going on??
I'd be shocked if we could get a top 5 pick for Rudy. Indy is probably offering a lottery protected pick.
I love Anthony Randolph, and probably would have chosen him over the pick. Again, not surprising that NYK turned it down. Rudy for either AR or the Indy pick seems like a laughable offer.
Agreed. Cho really needs to take what he can get and live with it. It does us no good to have an unhappy player like Rudy struggling for playing time and mucking up the rotation. And here's a memo to Cho: Hey, Cho, sometimes we get better when we use the "addition by subtraction" method. Removing dead wood from a team and creating an open roster spot can be a way to ultimately make the team better.
He is asking for a first round pick. How is that too much? Because he doesn't want Boston's pick in the high 20's? Sounds like he wants the highest pick possible using a third team. Why should he rush?
I like what Cho is doing. Right now, Rudy is just beginning to raise his value from its nadir of a month ago. It's because of his decent play with Espana. I'm sure the message has been sent to Rudy that we gave up $3MM for him and expect value in return; that we're not going to give him away just to make him happy. Rudy isn't a big enough part of this team to be anything more than a minor annoyance. I say bring him in and let him play his value up. Clearly, last season he took Homer Simpson's advice to Bart, "Boy, you don't go on strike. You just do your job real half-assed." If he wants out, then he needs to put in some effort and raise his value. He's a hell of a player. When he shows it, we'll get more value. If not, then we haven't lost much. Low risk with the prospect of a decent reward. It doesn't sound too bad to me.
I don't see how Rudy's value has increased playing for Spain. Means nothing. Rudy's value isn't going to go up.
No wonder New York turned that down. Indiana gets a very nice deal, Portland gets a solid deal and New York gets shafted. I'm surprised it was structured as a three-way deal...I'd rather just have Randolph, so I don't know why Indiana needed to be involved. I'd reduce Cunningham to mop-up minutes and, in competitive games, play an 8-man rotation: Roy, Oden, Aldridge, Batum, Miller, Randolph, Camby, Bayless. Other players are there in case of injury or garbage time. I wonder how close New York felt a Randolph-for-Rudy swap (as it would have been for them) is. I wouldn't mind adding in more to turn Rudy into Randolph.
