I'm watching. The announcer is really annoying, like he is calling a soccer match. And he keeps yelling "Turk-oh-glue" every time Hedo touches the ball.
This French team has been together for more than a month this summer, and they have yet to figure out how to tackle a basic 2-3 zone. Nic not doing anything. Diaw has committed a turnover almost everytime he touched the ball. And Greedo is playing really well.
I'm frankly amazed that France got as far as they did. Outside of Diaw and Batum, they don't seem to know how to play basketball. And Nico is maddeningly passive. Turkoglu, on the other hand is looking great. As is Omer Asik - what did we give him up for? A bunch of second round picks? Looks like Patty and Batum can sit next to each other on the flight over to the US tomorrow.
Got him for Zach, gave him for Mills. http://www.prosportstransactions.co...ndDate=&PlayerMovementChkBx=yes&submit=Search
The TV guy gives the score and pleads, "Let's just have a good time anyway, okay?" Now he proudly yells the deficit is only 22. I feel more for this TV guy. I'm rooting for him more than the teams. Now the colorman says the French coach must be very proud to be down only 22. These guys are trying to keep their audience on board.
If Turkey shoots like this (if/when) they play the US, they stand a serious chance at an upset. Ilyasova, their best players so far, didn't do shit today, and they're still kicking France's ass.
I'm relieved it's over actually. Nic got a little time as a go-to guy (meh) and he didn't get hurt (yay!)
Eurobasket Championship will be France's if all their NBA players don't sit out again. Parker/ Pietrus/ Nic/ Diaw/ Noah, with Beaubois, Turiaf, F. Pietrus, and Gelabale off the bench. Probably the most talent on paper in Europe.
The game was entertaining. "Both teams played hard." I posted a couple of weeks ago that I thought France was not well-coached. De Colo may be a disliked punk, but his attitude is what we need on the Blazers. Batum has a little of that, which gave him a boost in moving ahead of Webster and Rudy on the Blazer roster.
