    Hello darkness, my old friend
If Oregon runs the table with a stronger schedule, why wouldn't they be ranked ahead of BSU in the BCS? As I recall, the BCS has a strength of schedule component. What would hold Oregon back? I have no doubt that coaches would give Oregon more respect than BSU, since Oregon is now a major name in a major conference.

The criticism has generally been that the BCS overvalues wins, not that it would somehow lock out an undefeated team with a strong(er) strength of schedule.

That's not fair. OSU has the balls to schedule GOOD out of conference teams every year. They could be OREGON and play New Mexico, but the Beavs have balls. They'll still be a top tier Pac 10 team when it's all said and done.

I have to agree that OSU has had a little harder schedule lately. The problem with Oregon is trying to get a home and home with the good teams. Many teams will play us only at their place. Oregon doesn't need the money and will only schedule if we get a home and home with them. I see we might play LSU in the season opener next year if we can drop KSU. We have played some tough non-conf teams in the last 5-8 years though. Last year we had BSU and Utah, a few years ago we had Michigan twice (when they were good) and Okc twice. We do have some tougher game scheduled in a couple years going forward.

And it's not Oregon's fault that Tennessee sucks this year, either. But the Beavs still typically play a tougher out of conference schedule. Boise St and TCU? Oregon = New Mexico and Portland St.

You say it above and then leave it out here. They play @ Tennessee.

And Oregon didn't need to schedule a huge list of tough OOC games this year. They already have to play @ USC, @ Cal and @ OSU. No point in creating the most brutal schedule possible.

In the end they're playing a respectable SEC opponent in their house. Good enough.

I realize that its your thing to hate Oregon unconditionally.. but lets break it down. I looked at OOC Schedules back to 02 (as far as ESPN schedule and results went)

    2002-
Oregon State OOC Opponents- Eastern Kentucky, Temple, UNLV, Fresno St
Oregon OOC Opponents- Miss St, Fresno St, Idaho, Port St.

Both teams played Fresno St so thats a wash... and the other schools were pretty much garbage. I call this OOC Schedule a wash. Advantage... Even.

    2003-
Oregon State OOC Opponents- Sacramento st, Fresno st, New Mexico St, Boise St.
Oregon OOC Opponents - Miss State, Nevada, Michigan, Utah.

The #4 Wolverines trump BSU in this, and Utah comes ahead of Fres State. Advantage.... Oregon.

    2004-

Oregon St OOC Schedule- LSU, BSU, New Mex
Oregon OOC Schedule- Indiana, Oklahoma, Idaho.

While Oklahoma that year trumps LSU (IMO) Boise St was still a better 2nd opponent, than Indiana or Idaho were. Advantage OSU.

    2005-

OSU OOC Schedule- Louisville, Boise St, Port St.
UO OOC Schedule - Houston, Montano, Fresno St

While Fresno and BSU were pretty equal, I would give OSU the edge of Louisville over Houston. Advantage OSU.

    2006-

OSU OOC Schedule- Eastern Wash, Boise St, Idaho
UO OOC Schedule- Fresno St, Oklahoma, Port St

Oklahoma and Boise may have bene top level opponents (with BSU beating OU in the Fiesta Bowl actually) but Fresno is a better opponent than Idaho. Advantage... Oregon

    2007-

OSU OOC Schedule- Utah, Cinci, Id St
UO OOC Schedule - Houston, Michigan, Fres St

Oregon scheduled 3 quality opponents (since we arent holding the team being bad against them, being how they are scheduled in advance) vs OSU's 2 opponents. Advantage... Oregon

    2008-

OSU OOC Schedule - Penn St, Hawaii, Utah
UO OOC Schedule- Utah St, Boise St, Purdue.

No need to break this one down really, OSU had 3 quality opponents, to Oregon's 2. (even though Purdue wasnt that good that year) Advantage... OSU.

    2009-

OSU OOC Schedule- Port St, UNLV, Cinci
Oregon OOC Schedule - Boise St, Utah, Purdue

    Advantage Oregon.

    2010

OSU OOC Schedule- Boise St, TCU, Louisville
UO OOC Schedule - NM State, Tenn, Port St

    Advantage OSU.

So I count 4 for OSU, and 4 for UO.. with that debatable one in 2002... Like I said.. I know its your thing to hate on them... but please dont let that get in the way of how things are.

The one thing you really aren't taking to account though is that when these teams were scheduled, they might have been a lot better, or a lot worse. How this all got started is that we were talking about Toledo and Wyoming for BSU, who have sucked for as long as I can remember.

Facts cannot get in the way of my hatred towards the Ducks. What is even more disturbing is they looked ridiculously good this weekend, and easily looked like the best PAC 10 team. I can only hope they stumble. Ranked #7 now. Barf.

That's a very good point. Living here in Boise, I always hear about how "nobody wants to play us." But geez, they can definitely find better competition than that. I wonder what their rationale was.

Next time I hear this bullshit I'll have a retort ready.

lol while I dont think Professional Fan is one of these... but there are a lot of fans who honestly I think hate The Ducks more than they support their team. For those who really do that, it is rather annoying. Its like we get with the Lakers a lot in here. :sigh:

Its easy to do that when the team you root for hasn't been relevant in years.

I was watching the Boise St. game with a good bud is a UW alumni and huge Dawgs homer. He was telling me about when Locker was a freshman and they were selling "What Would Jake Do" T-shirts on campus. Even he admits he'd rather have that lightly recruited Kellen Moore over Locker in a heartbeat.

Many UW fans are in denial that Locker is a good QB.
