http://www.greatfallstribune.com/article/20100907/SPORTS/9070316 If you saw a very tall young man in Great Falls this past weekend, chances are it was Spencer Hawes, a 7-foot-1 center for the Philadelphia 76ers. Hawes flew in from Seattle to visit friends, and he was gracious enough to share his basketball knowledge with local youths. He conducted a clinic for young players on Sunday afternoon at C.M. Russell High Fieldhouse, then returned later in the evening to offer pointers to high-school aged players during CMR's open gym session. A former star at Seattle Prep, Hawes, 22, played hoops one year at the University of Washington before entering the 2007 NBA draft. He was taken by Sacramento with the 10th pick of the first round, and averaged 8.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 220 games (118 starts). He contributed 10 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this past season; he had a career-high 30 points against the Los Angeles Lakers in a New Year's Day game in Los Angeles. On June 17, Sacramento traded Hawes and swingman Andre Nocioni to Philadelphia for center Samuel Dalembert.
