I am from the area where the Rodgers brothers went to school. Until the new high school was built, my kids would have went to the same high school actually. There is a lot of talk down here about kids thinking about following the Rodgers brothers.

I love this! This is benefitting both schools big time! James and Jacquizz, and Thomas and James all these kids getting big time stuff around here is helping both schools there. (not trying to hijack this, as I realize it is a props article for OSU)

This is good exposure for the Pac-10 in general. It just so happens that Oregon State has established a niche and are benefiting from the Rodgers brothers. Its a legacy that has truly born in the state of texas!

Outside of the Rodgers brothers (who are like a package). Who does OSU have from Texas?

Off the top of my head Oregon had Thomas, James and Seastrunk all 4 star and higher recruits plucked right out in front of all those Texas schools.

to really say that oregon "plucked recruits right out in front of all those texas schools", don't you think those guys actually need to have offers from UT? the only guy you can say that about is seastrunk.

You think those Texas schools pass up on 4 and 5 star recruits on a regular basis?

the university of texas? absolutely. how do you think texas already had 18 commits for 2011 by mid march(which is more than all but a few times have right now)? texas picks the guys they want and almost always get them. getting 4 or 5 star players out of the state of texas is nice, but unless they have an offer from UT, the team didn't take them from UT because UT wasn't interested.

and talking about other texas schools, looking at rivals it appears that thomas had no offers from texas schools and james only had one from tcu.

he should be good for oregon. if the freshman right now for texas don't step up, davis could really be missed next year with texas' top 3 corners all likely to leave(two seniors and aaron williams who should be a 1st round pick).

while I know they werent on the list that you were refuting, I did want to mention that

Huff also had one from TCU, and I think was committed there as well IIRC, Dontae Williams had A & M, and UTEP (big whoops on their lol), and Houston.

I hope so, I do think that recruits are starting to notice that DB's here at Oregon are getting coached to an NFL level. Chung, Thurmond, Ward, Byrd all were in the same Secondary. Hopefully that trend continues, with Boyett, Dargan, Pleasant, Jackson III, Cliff Harris, and Dior Mathis. and Davis.

Riley is a genius at finding those 2 and 3 star recruits with 4 and 5 star potential ... pretty cool that he's making some inroads in a great football state.

So those teams refuse to go after 4 and 5 star recruits? Do they not go after players they think they don't have a chance at? Does LSU and Oklahoma steal the other big name Texas recruits?

I'm sure teams like SMU, UTEP, Houston, Rice and such don't have any 4 and 5 star recruits.

It baffles me that those schools can overlook players that Oregon and Oregon St. pluck right out of their backyard.

I agree. Riley goes after 3 or 4 star HS ranked football players and make them better than what they have proven. There is something that he has done with his system or staff that have made them better. Texas college FB scouts may not know of their in-state potential and just go for the big stat players perhaps?
