Danilo seems like such an absurd gunner though. I actually don't see the fear about Anthony meshing with Rose. He's played his best ball with Billups and Billups is sort of an older version of Rose in general style of play.
True, but Billups has won a ring. A proven veteran. Rose is a one time all-star, like Mello hasn't won the big one.
I think Gallinari had to gun it on that New York team If you put him in a proper system , a system like ours that I believe he would be perfect for , I see him as a prime Kukoc type And yes, if this was right in how he pans out I would rather this than Boobs Anthony Disagree with the Rose and Billups comparison. Billups was confused early in his career and played on his own a lot to try and prove himself on some marginal teams. I see him as the classic half court point guard where you've got post up guys and /or guys that get theirs moving off the ball. That's what made the Pistons the Pistons ( along with their defensive brand )
Billups won Finals MVP, no? That's because he drove past guys, repeatedly, 5 votes for NBA of the whole enchilada the next season, and 11 the next, 12 two seasons later. It'd be awesome for us if Rose gets at least 1 MVP vote (he will) and the sooner the better, IMO.
Billups knew when to deal it and when to take it himself - still does with how the Nuggets have gone the last couple of years. I love Derrick. My barometer for him though is when he can balance what he can do for his teammates to what we know he can do for himself. He's not there yet
I think Rose needs to be a lot more efficient. Last year he scored 26.8 PPG in the playoffs on 25 FGA/game. I'd love to see 25 PPG on 20 FGA.
Well, for me it was watching him Anthony play international ball. His play was gorgeous in the Olympics. His play was so versatile. You could make a reasonable argument that he was the best player on Team USA. I don't think Deng has that versatility -- that doesn't mean I would trade Noah for him, but I would consider it.
Why the sudden need for Anthony? We're fine where we are as a team right now. I'd honestly want a defensive stopper who can hit the 3 (like Batum) than Anthony at this point. Either way, those guys will come at a much cheaper price.
I think the Bulls are right to be interested in Melo on the basis of needing another player who contributes offensively. It might be odd to say, but I think despite the addition of Boozer, they're still only a pretty average offensive team.
Not odd at all. It's clearly a need. Melo would be awesome. But as a free agent, please! Or on a silver platter via the Memphis Grizzlies, please! Trading Deng and Noah for Melo? It hurts. I might do it (not my money), but I can see the pain. Jay Cutler was the answer for the Bears, regardless the cost, just last year.
I agree with McGraw, if Melo is traded, it will be at deadline. Denver has no reason to trade him right now unless Anthony sets out. I don't see that happening.
I think that's a very apt comparison. Even with most very good players, you need a really good team to make them work. Getting a good QB on a team with an iffy line, average running game, and no one to throw to is not a recipe for success. I think the Bulls are closer to getting it right, but they still seem to be one major piece away. What do they gain by waiting? I wouldn't expect tangibly better offers, but I would expect a half a season of awkwardness and disillusioned fans waiting for the other shoe to drop. I suspect that's not helping ticket sales. Of course, I don't think a really one-sided, salary dump trade will help them either. That's actually one reason I think the Deng/Taj/Picks deal makes pretty good sense for them. It allows them to stay competitive and rebuild on the fly. Somewhat. It sort of depends on what their fans want to root for right now, I spose.
