I think Pritchard got fired because he passed on Durant.

I would have picked Oden too, but GOT DAMN Durant is just KILLING IT! He threw down 38 on Lithuania today and has the USA in the gold medal game now. I certainly hope Oden gets healthy, because this pick will haunt us almost as bad as Bowie if he doesn't. :hairout:

That is not the reason I heard. It had nothing to do with Oden and Durant. PA signed off on the Oden pick.

I don't think it matters if PA signed off on it or not.

Everyone knew Durant was gonna kill it, so its not surprising. If oden stays healthy he'll show everyone why we picked him.

There would be 29 other fired GMs if that is the reason.

So basically you all are bitching because we won the lottery. If we got #2, or not even moved up (and probably picked Noah) you would have no complaints.

It's funny, I don't wish we had Durant, even though I can see he's an amazing offensive force. He's just kind of... boring. Tall jumpshooter. Woo-woo.

No there wouldn't. Only one GM gets to pick him.

Honestly, the whole Durant/Oden thing is really just depressing. What irritates me is the statement, "if Oden stays healthy" which is used around here A LOT and seems kind of ridiculous the more people use it.

It's kind of like, if Qyntel Woods didn't have his head up his ass, he could have been an All-Star!

Kind of like how ridiculous it sounds (to me) when people say he will never stay healthy and his body is falling apart and he will always injure his legs (even though he doesn't have a recurring injury that keeps flaring up).

"One of them will win scoring titles and one of them will win championships."

    I still agree.

To change the topic tangentially to Team USA (which is everybody but Durant and Love on defense, and Durant on offense), if Serbia ends up beating Turkey in this semifinal, then the fix is in. The US will have advanced through the elimination rounds playing precisely none of the teams (Spain, Greece, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina) that actually had a chance against it, or strengths where the US had weaknesses.

Just playing devil's advocate here...........I look at the box score today and I see Durant with another monster game. I see him taking 26 shots and I see that most of his teammates struggled with their shots. Is there a correlation? Does Durant have to take a lot of shots to get into a rhythm? Does that hurt his teammates?

Now I don't think KD is a selfish player at all. But I do think if BRoy took as many shots as Durant did, then he also would score more. But would that help the team win more? I don't think so. Great shooters like KD eventually get into a groove when they have the luxury of shooting that many times. It is not as easy when you have to share the ball. Don't get me wrong I would love to have the guy on my team, but it takes a lot of different types of players to win a NBA championship.

Bowie was the correct pick, as was Oden, and doesn't "haunt" me in the least.

But all the other 29 GMs would have picked Greg!

They probably would have been fired if they were the GM of Portland. But they weren't.
