<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Gilbert Arenas and Awvee Storey, both of the Washington Wizards , have been arrested on charges of disobeying police.According to police reports, Storey was blocking traffic in the middle of a busy street in Miami Beach when an officer told him to get back to the sidewalk Saturday night. Storey didn't get out of the street, and the officer arrested him and charged him with failure to obey a command.Arenas got out of a vehicle and walked toward the arresting officers. According to reports, an officer told Arenas to get back in his vehicle, but he refused, saying he wanted to stand next to his teammate. The officer took Arenas into custody and charged him with resisting without violence. As Arenas was being arrested, according to reports, he said, "You can't arrest me. I'm a basketball player. I play for the Washington Wizards , and I'm not going to leave my teammate."</div>Source: SportsIllustrated.comYou know what, compared to most reasons why NBA players, and professional athletes in general for that matter, are arrested, this is actually admirable by Gilbert. He was coming to the aid of his teammate, but unfortunately for them both it ended up in an arrest.
BigMo I totally agree. This is a much better situation in terms of an arrest compared to other players who get arrested, for drugs and/or guns. Stupid police officers...
Gilbert Arenas is being pretty respectable and honorable but at the same time stupid... You can't expect not to get arrested for not listening to a police officer, however at least he has team spirit and his team are his friends.
You just cant do that sort of thing, no matter how admirable it sounds. It isnt that big of a deal though. I was getting all worked up when I read the title.
I don't really think it's "admirable" to disobey the law. It might be admirable to support your friend, but pretending you are above the law because you play professional sports is not admirable.
Hahah, I just saw the story on local news. Gilbert's mug shot was pretty funny. Storey brought it upon himslef though, he had three blocks of traffic backed up. Who the hell does he think he is?
Well, they won't face time, that's good but I hope Gilbert learns a lesson from this. Kid at my school, a grade below me, is his neighbor lol.
