would anyone else like to join their bandwagon... goodness. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/69113/20100914/dampier_could_land_in_miami/
something about jumping on another team to ride its coattails to a championship would cheapen it for me. I still have to remind myself the Mitch Richmond won a title.
So let me get this right. Charlotte trades for Dampier for the salary dump because he is in the last year of his contract. Then they only keep him partway through the summer and cut him, when most players on an end of life contract get traded mid year. Top it off with the fact that they don't get a salary relief from him being cut, there is no logical reason to cut him. The only reason to cut him, is because it is a setup to get him to Miami.
MJ must just really not want Kobe to pass him up with a seventh ring. Like you said hasoos, it makes no sense otherwise....
It makes sense. Dampier's deal became guaranteed at the beginning of the season. Charlotte was waiting to see if a deal was out there that made sense financially. He was eligible to be traded yesterday and no offers were made that they liked. Now, they save 13M and get under the tax.
