Kyle Korver discussed Chicago's offseason moves in a wide-ranging interview with SLAM Magazine. "I think we're going to be right there. I don't think anyone is going to pick us as the favorite, but I think everyone is going to put us up in that top group, and we should be, I think," Korver said. "We've got a lot of great pieces, a lot of pieces that are going to get a lot better this year, but it all remains to be seen. We've got to jell together, we've got to learn how to play with each other, we've got to learn more about the coaching staff, but I think it's all there for us to be a really great team." http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2010/09/converse-open-gym-with-kyle-korver/
You just can't help but sit up and take notice of the perspective of someone with the Championship Rings credentials of the Kyle Korvers of the league when he chooses to speak up.
All kidding aside, he's right. We're not on paper favorites but we have a mix that puts us in the discussion. Which is nice. And sometimes -- which is enough. That's why they play the games, right?
Being a non-talented role player who's been in the league for a long time is probably a better gauge for insightfulness than championship rings. Just look at who ends up being the coach and GM.
