iverson is no exception, he needs to shutup and play every single game in the season. The team the sixers got is good, and has potential NOW, but then again there are just much better teams out there. He even took the the sixers to the finals with not that great of a team. Shut up and play ivy until the obvious is displayed. KG deserves an exception due to his loyalty and consistant great play without missing much games due to talk and not just injury.Overall about this issue... players should come here to play for the love of the game. Demanding a trade is accepting deafeat.
I think it depends on the situation. I mean I absolutely hate when players whine (especially at a young age) about their team. Like Steve Francis saying he wasn't gunna play in Vancover and having his agent immediately work a trade out of there (before he even played a damn game). But a guy like Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Allen Iverson - they should be allowed to given their situations and skill levels. I mean a guy like KG/AI should be able to because they are GREAT players and give their all every night. The teams lack of success is not their fault, it's their organizations (especially Minnesota). Paul Pierce too because he is a proven ballplayer who has been an All-Star for the last 5 seasons and he is in the prime of his career on a 33 win young team with lack of direction.
I'm not buying this crap that guys like KG/AI should be allowed to demand a trade and others can't. That's bullsh** and if your going to have it one way, then you should just allow everyone to do it. But me I'm against anyone demanding a trade, I don't care who you are. There's only going to be one team that wins a ring, so are you telling me those other 29 teams that don't win, their superstars are allowed to demand a trade out because their not having success?

Obviously, I'm sure neither of them want to go (both have publicly stated that), but if their teams decide its time to rebuild, I'm sure they'll get some say into what kind of a situation they will be traded to (i.e. Shaq when he was traded to Miami).
Well, there are two sides to it. I could agree with both to some extent. The players should have a certain right to option out of a bad situation. They might have liked what they started with, but ended up with a completely different team down the road. It is business. Their game is business. The team they play for is a business. Their contract is a business deal, and they should make smart decisions with who they play for, who coaches them, how long they play for a team that has no shot, etc.On the other hand, players really shouldn't "demand" a trade. It looks really bad to the entire organization... from the individual player, to the other players, to the coaching staff, the GM, etc. BUT if you can't handle things maturely, that might be your only choice.

As long as you have a good reason for demanding a trade I think its ok. If you dont have a reason you are just betraying your team and should have to pay consequences for it. It is overused but shouldnt be. A player should be loyal to his team and unless there is a good reason behind their demands a player should not be able to demand a trade.
The way I think it's acceptable:If you've given everything to your franchise, you've been there awhile, you are coming out of your prime, and you want to win. I think it would then be stupid if you didn't do anything about ti
