As of Wednesday, the Panthers had roughly 500 unsold non-premium seats, according to our friends at the Mac Attack on WFNZ. As of Thursday, those tickets look to be completely sold, according to Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer. Gantt says official word should come today that the home opener against the Bucs is sold out and will be televised locally. But even if not a single additional ticket had been sold between Wednesday and Thursday, the game surely would have been sold out. Under the little-known-but-increasingly-better-known rule that allows the home team to buy up the unsold non-premium tickets at 34 cents on the dollar, the Panthers would have had to write a check in the neighborhood of $17,000, assuming an average ticket price of $100. Keep that in mind as more and more teams get closer and closer to not selling out their home games. There will be more and more pressure applied to the home teams to write that check to allow the game to be televised locally. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/
