City Attorney Christi Hogin announced at Monday's council meeting that Los Angeles Clippers owner and real estate tycoon Donald Sterling recently approached Malibu officials about leasing a portion of the old Coldwell Banker building at city-owned Legacy Park.

The City Council discussed this during a closed-session prior to the regular meeting. State law prohibits disclosure of what is specifically said during closed sessions, but city officials must tell the public what the topics were. The Malibu Times contacted a Sterling spokesperson. She said she did not know about this. She said she would look into the matter. As of press time on Tuesday evening, she had not called back.

Coldwell Banker vacated the building last year. Super Care Drugs moved into a portion of the building in June.
