CHI can get Melo if put Noah in deal. Bulls not willing rt now http://twitter.com/Chris_Broussard/status/25119765787
LOL, if you read enough, everyoneis out of the running. From the NYTimes article: Of course, Broussard also says Which honestly does seem odd to me. NY market, new and high profile ownership, Brook Lopez and Devin Harris. Sounds like a good place to land to me. But the Nets would be nuts to actually trade without his approval. Broussard also tweets the Rockets are on Melo's list of love, so maybe that's a more reasonable destination. Could someone explain to me, however, why K-Mart + Jared Jeffries + Knicks pick is better than Deng + Taj + Bobcats pick? K-Mart and Deng seem very comparable in their overall talent levels. One's a 2 and the other is a 3, but if anything that points in Deng's favor, since the Nuggetts will obviously need a 3 but not obviously need a 2 (JR Smith). And while Taj is not Noah, he's a pretty obvious notch above Jared Jeffries.
We'd have nobody really to play C, but we could play Boozer and Taj at the PF and C positions for the short term. We have two draft picks to use to get a serviceable C.
Let me put it this way... A guy like Noah could be had with a 9th pick in the 1st round, and other perfectly suitable Cs could be had even later than that. A guy like Kendrick Perkins. There are very few guys I'd trade Noah for. Melo happens to be one of them. If Noah misses a bunch of games, gets seriously injured, or otherwise has an off year, his value may plummet. Melo is a sure thing, barring injury. I don't think we're quite contenders anyway, so it might be worth one year of playing with a team missing the optimal starting C.
I am very curious to see what Noah's deal is going to end up being. If it's more than about $10 mil/year then I think they screwed up by not trading for Melo, especially with a guy like Gasol out there available for a sign and trade next year. If it's less than that then it's a much tougher call because Deng and Noah are excellent complementary pieces to Rose and Boozer. But Deng and Noah are still big risks to get injured. On the other hand, Melo is a big risk to be a drunk, lazy ass underachiever. If you can motivate him, he could be the best, most consistent offensive player in the game.
Pippen: Bulls shouldn't trade Noah for 'Melo' http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/09/pippen-bulls-shouldnt-trade-noah-for-melo.html I don't want to trade Noah for Anthony.
