According to reports, an officer told Arenas to get back in his vehicle, but he refused, saying he wanted to stand next to his teammate. The officer took Arenas into custody and charged him with resisting without violence. As Arenas was being arrested, according to reports, he said, "You can't arrest me. I'm a basketball player. I play for the Washington Wizards , and I'm not going to leave my teammate."http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/407...in_miami_beach/
Wow. Absouletly wow. This is going to hurt him big time, and while I hope he can recover, this is yet another example of an NBA player stupid with the law.
Wow that was pretty stupid of Arenas. I mean I understand his logic for that but cmon. He needs to think about how this can hurt his career
Its good he did it for his teammate but he knew the consequences would effect him too. Retarded that he would put himself into that too..
It was quite funny him saying "you can't arrest me" however, he stood by his teamate. I gained new respect for gilbert.

what the hell kind of charge is resistence without violence???? whats next? being black???? that is messed up.
I'm totally sure that blocking traffic is the most arrestable offense occuring in Miami Beach on a saturday night...
As i said in the Wizards board, this is 99% stupidity and 1% honor. I guess it wouldn't have been that bad of a blow about Arenas if he didn't say that he's basically above the law...
I guess it was ok for Arenas to want to stand with his teammate because it shows loyalty, but he still disobeyed an officer of the law, which was a bad move. This isn't really anything major that would tarnish his reputation, but he still should have listened to the cop.

Not obeying a police officers order is against the law. You are going to get arresting if you keep doing something when a police officer says to stop, no matter what race; black, white, hindu, chinese, etc.

Police have to enforce laws...something Arenas and his dumb teammate don't understand...or they think they are above the law.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Melo_061 @ May 29 2006, 10:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>It was quite funny him saying "you can't arrest me" however, he stood by his teamate. Arenas had a good reason behind what he did but disobeying the law and then saying that you are above the law is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. I thought Arenas was smarter than that but I guess I was wrong lol.

I didn't think anyone was ever retarded enough to say that to the police, unless it's in like a movie. lmao :HAHAHA:
this wont affect arenas in any way......its just a small thing. You think teams will be turned off of him because of this. He is too damn good. And fans wont stop liking him so this really doesnt matter at all.
