You have to bold that MPG record. You really think somebody's gonna average over 48 minutes a game for an entire season?
Man, that double triple-double is digusting.Man, that guy was awesome. Sure wouldn't mind having him on my fantasy team. "Wilt only had 30 boards tonight? He's in a slump."

It's just too bad that he was SO MUCH better than everyone else...it's a major reason why some don't take him seriously considering his competition.
Most games with 50+ points: 118 (Michael Jordan is 2nd with 29)*That one surprises me the most even though all of them are amazing. Almost 100 more 50+ games more than MJ. WOW!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BCB @ May 30 2006, 09:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>It's just too bad that he was SO MUCH better than everyone else...it's a major reason why some don't take him seriously considering his competition.</div>Agreed. When he entered the NBA, he was bigger than 95% of players at his position by 5+ inches. He was the most athletic player, if not only because of his race. He was stronger than everyone else. Add that to the fact basketball was only starting then, and the talent wasn't as good, to the fact that there were tons more shots back then...His records are amazing, and won't be brokenHowever, he got them playing against pip-squeeks. It's like if Shaq was playing in Orlando vs. a bunch of Dwayne Wades, he'd average 5- PPG as well
I wish he could play against better competition, so we could all recognize him as the best center to ever play..Stat wise he is the best player and the best center of all time. But we all know MJ was more of a winner, leader, and he played against better competetion..I hate it when everyone looks at Wilt and says DAMN i couldve scored 50 ppg in that era..I hate it, he is the best center to ever play the game

He is incredibly weak, and guys like Dampier and Diop, two 7'0 centers, can out muscle him. Plus, they are more athletic than Yao.More imprtantly, players that tall have an inability to move, due to their height. Has there ever been a player at 7'6 who could actually run? Hell, there are few 7'0 players whoa re willing to run.Back then, Wilt was taller, stronger, faster, and longer than any player out there. Yao Ming is taller than players today, but not stronger, faster, or even longer. I've seen Ben Wallace at 6'9 block Yao Ming straight up
KMart and BCB are both right. Ballah I think you're overrating Chamberlain a bit too much. There werent many dominant 7 footers back then, he just tore up the competetion because he was pretty much taller than everbody. His records are amazing to believe, but you have to look at the reasons why that somewhat degrade these records.

The "weak" competition Wilt played against had little affect on how great he actually was. No player since Wilt have put up anywhere near those numbers. If you ask me, Wilt is the greatest player in NBA history hands down. Not even Michael Jordan can come close. We will never ever ever ever ever ever see a player who's only half as good as Wilt.
If you watch wilt, you can see he had some crazy moves. He could hit that turn around frequesntly, had some great footwork and his turnaround fingeroll was unstoppable. He blocked Kareem's sky hook twice in one possesions whilst not his prime. The guy is a beast and he'd destroy any center in the league. I'd love to see what would happen when wilt would start turning around and hitting shots on shaq. Shaq would be bamboozled just like he was with hakeem.Best c ever. Arguably the best player. M.D.EBelieve it, the guy is a beast. The argument that he was only good beause of his compeitiont is someone who has never seen wilt. Those moves that he had were legit, no c would be able to stop it. No-one.

Wilt Chamberlain made all of those great athletes look down right stupid. Not even Bill Russell could even try to stop Wilt. Shaq wouldn't have a chance.
Great athletes? I know that Wilt was unbelievable, but calling the 60's players great athletes is a joke. Current NBA players would run laps around the players from the 60's. Also, think that Wilt had a height difference of about 6 or 7 inches most of the times he played. And that was only the next tallest guy.Think what would happen if Shaq were facing people that were only 6"7 all the time. You do the math.
