Whats your favorite hidden gem that word hasn't gotten out about?

I like a place called Nikola's on Lombard, super cheap and great italian food. Absolute grub!

Another place I like to go is the Overlook House over in the Overlook neighborhood off Interstate. There breakfast is off the hook. Eggs benedict, biscuits and gravy or country fried steak you can't go wrong.

Also, for seafood I like to go to the Fishermans Wife off Lombard. They always have fresh seafood and cheap place to go to get my oyster fix.

Back in HS, we'd always go to La Sirenita on Alberta. Sometime in the past few years the decor has gotten better while the food got worse (and more expensive). Now when I 'm in town I always go a block away to La Bonita. Both are pretty popular, so probably doesn't fit with your 'word hasn't gotten out about'

Palio's over in Ladd's Addition has unbelievable fresh cakes and deserts. If you can find it, nice place to take a chick after dinner. Cup of coffee, fresh desert...

I'm not really familiar with that area and I like to explore and try different places. I'll have to check it out.

I've always wanted to go to the Skyline Restaurant (diner-style) but have never been. Heard it was good.

    Anyone?

There used to be a place out in Troutdale called the Country Inn. I have no idea if it is still there or not, but I remember it being on Halsey and whatever the dog track is on maybe?

Speaking of true "hole in the wall" places, about 15 years ago I was in LA and was asked if I liked middle eastern food. "No", I replied. Nonetheless, I was taken to some nondescript area of LA and there was a block long stucco wall with various unmarked doors. We walked into one of those doors and stepped into a restaurant kitchen. Down a narrow hall and out into a large courtyard that was the seating area. They had a belly dancer and it was very authentic. I was impressed. I wish I could remember the name of the place.

I think I remember that place, as well. Literally, there was a hole in the wall.

I've heard my aunt mention that place. There's all kinds of nice places on Mississippi. I want to try the new oyster bar they started there.

Going to Por Que No tomorrow for dinner. It's great.

    Skyline diner is OK

Hotcake House on Powell is great for breakfast.

I love the Chicken Bar in Beaverton near the Beaverton Fred Meyer. Chicken + Rice + sweet chili sauce!
