Hartley was suspended 4 games last year, so they picked up Carney to cover. When Hartley came back, they competed for the job and Hartley won. Carney stayed as a coach, though.
I'm not sure it matters that there are kickers who do well into their 40s, when this particular one already lost the job to Hartley in the past.
so what are you saying about Janikowski today? I loved the video post-kick, where two or three guys just ripped their helmets off and slammed them to the turf.
I will say this.... The Falcons/Saints and the Dolphins/Jets games were amazing. I'm really impressed with the Jets and Falcons.
Didn't the Bills just put up 30 against a decent Patriots team? SF couldn't score a TD against a Seahawks team that got lit up for 500 yards yesterday.
DID YOU REALIZE RYAN FITZPATRICK IS OUR STATING QB?????????? TEAMS HAVE BETTER PRACTICE SQUAD QB'S LOL
Hows this old thread. http://sportstwo.com/threads/130829-niners-win-3-of-4! I think for the niners its still "niners losing 3 of 4!", with their only win against Carolina (in the next four games). And this doofus is fired (jimmy raye).
On the other hand, the 49ers nearly beat the defending champions last Monday night. The 49ers are playing like crap right now, though.
The champs were lookin for a loss, and they finally found it with Atlanta. New Orleans looks very mortal this season.
The problem the 49ers have had, last season and this, is that their talent is very inconsistent. What makes Peyton Manning so good is not merely the big plays...it's that when he doesn't make big plays, he's getting the 5-10 yard steady gains. When big plays punctuate steady contributions toward a win, that makes a star/superstar. The 49ers have produced big plays, but almost all of their players (Patrick Willis excepted) produce very little between the big plays. The result is a team that ends up with better press than results...always seen as a team "on the rise" who never rises. And when the big plays dry up, you get ugly losses. Not to mention that I think the 49ers' current state of coaching is very poor, but that's another issue.
