Actually, that makes me feel a little better. Now we know why he has "good and bad days" and it's something that just about every NBA player gets at some point rather than a big-ass crack in his knee.

Exactly; it also makes sense that he twanged those tendons when his kneecap broke.

This is actually very good news. PT is very common for basketball players ramping back up for the season. It is an easily treatable tendonitis that has no long term issues. If that is the main thing holding him back then I feel pretty good about that.

[I have had this before from long distance running]

Oden and Pryzbilla are both going to be out for the start of the season. So we currently have:

    C: Camby Pendegraph
    PF: LaMarcus Cunningham

    That is it!

Batum or Babbit could play limited spot minutes at the 4 but I don’t think we should count on it. Batum is very effective as a wing, he doesn’t need to be banging shoulders with brusing PF’s. Babbit did not look ready to contribute in summer league much less the NBA; this will be a learning and developing year for him with limited play mostly in garbage time. It the team misses a single game from any of the above four players we become razor thin up front and are in serious jeopardy of losing games. Or if Camby and LaMarcus both have foul trouble in the same game we have to run with Pendy and Dante for extended minutes and no subs.

Cho could get moving on a trade, release Rudy, or release Armon. I forgot how we got the 16th man on the roster last season but I believe it was only for injuries that happen after opening night. It appeared we had a deep roster up front a month ago but now it feels razor thin.

I’m not really sure what I want to see happen. I think this team could be an outside contender this season if they get a few breaks to got their way, so if we have to cut a young guy to bring in a veteran who’ll play right now that might just have to be what happens.

Found some info on patella tendinitis on an old blazers edge article:
Doesn't sound like a big deal, on it's own. Interesting that they are already ruling him out for opening night though.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
It's not good luck or bad luck. It's a pretty standard temporary ailment for athletes.

If come next off-season, Oden has missed a ton of games in 2010-11, I'll be ready to give up.

No chance in hell were going to release Armon. Him and Andre are the only true point guards on the team.

Yeah thats what I want to know from people who say we'll have to move on. Yes Oden has had injury troubles, yes that may mean he's more likely to be injured in the future. Yes that makes him worth less than we thought when we drafted him #1. But that doesn't make him worthless. As long as Oden has more value than the 15th man on the roster I want to see us keep him.
